The Washington Redskins need to find a way to shut down Drew Brees. If they can’t, things are going to get out of hand real fast on Sunday afternoon.

While the New Orleans Saints have been a bit fluky this season, Brees has continued to be Brees and he comes into this Week 10 matchup as one of the most dangerous passing threats in the entire league. Last week, in the Saints OT loss to the Tennessee titans, threw for 387 yards and three touchdowns as well as a rushing touchdown. It was Brees’ 92nd career game of 300 yards or more and he’s now thrown 10 touchdown passes in his last two games.

Despite Bress’ impressive performance recently, the Saints come into Sunday afternoon’s non-divisional tilt even with Washington at FedEx Field.

That’s because while the Redskins are tasked with slowing down Drew Brees, the Saints defense hasn’t done much to inspire any kind of confidence this season either.

New Orleans is the 25th-ranked rush defense (122.6 yards per game) and that leaves the field wide open for Redskins running backs Matt Jones and Alfred Morris. Add into the mix a healthy DeSean Jackson and a Kirk Cousins who is anxious to prove himself and Washington could do some offensive damage of its own this afternoon.

However, while the chance is there, the Redskins haven’t responded well after a loss. In fact, Washington is 4-11 ATS in the last 15 games following a loss and are historically bad in November. In their last eight games this month, the Redskins are 0-8 SU and 1-7 ATS.

On the flip side, the Saints are historically successful at FedEx field, as well as dominant the week before a bye. According to OddsShark, New Orleans boasts a 6-1 record SU and 5-2 ATS in the last seven games prior to its bye week.

The total for Sunday afternoon’s New Orleans vs. Washington betting matchup is set at 50 according to the sportsbooks. The total has gone OVER in eight of New Orleans last 12 games on the road and OVER in seven of the Saints’ eight last games against Washington. Meanwhile, the total has gone UNDER in seven of Washington’s last 10 games at home.

The OddsShark computer is predicting a 27.5 – 23.4 New Orleans Saints victory.
