Each year, millions of people watch the halftime show at the Super Bowl. Whether you’re a sports fan or not, the halftime show is always a spectacle that viewers tune in for and anxiously wait for each year. In 2013, Beyonce’s performance caused a huge black out and blew the electricity in the stadium and who can forget Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” with Justin Timberlake in 2004? 1. Performers DO NOT Get Paid

Taking on the halftime show as the main event is band Coldplay. Lead singer Chris Martin talked about his excitement for the performance to Entertainment Tonight, saying:

Are you kidding me? It’s the greatest moment of our band’s life. We’re going to give it everything we have.

Playing the halftime show at the Super Bowl is a huge honor and, that is probably one of the reasons that performers don’t get paid. NFL spokesperson Joanna Hunter told Forbes that:

We do not pay the artists. We cover expenses and production costs.

Super Bowl Halftime basically serves as a free commercial for its headlining performers.


2. Beyonce Is Set to Debut New Single “Formation”

Beyonce is one of the additional performers taking the stage for halftime. On Coldplay’s latest album, Beyonce collaborated with the band to create the song “Hymn for the Weekend.” But, the biggest development is that Beyonce is reported to be debuting her new single “Formation” at the event.


3. Bruno Mars Is Scheduled to Participate In the Show

Bruno Mars was the headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show in 2014 and now he returns to aid Coldplay in their big performance. When Bruno Mars performed for the event in 2014, he was joined by band The Red Hot Chili Peppers.


4. Blue Ivy May Be Included

There’s a chance that Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy could make an appearance on stage during the halftime show. The rumors have been swirling because Blue Ivy was part of the “choir” that provided vocals for parts of Coldplay’s “A Head Full of Dreams.” With Beyonce performing opposite Coldplay, there’s a chance that she could bring her little girl into the mix.

In addition to the possibility of Beyonce’s daughter joining in, there have been rumors circulating that Beyonce may reveal that she’s pregnant during her halftime performance. In 2011, Beyonce performed at the MTV Video Music Awards and stunned the crowd when she exposed a big baby bump, announcing her big news.


5. Additional Surprise Guests Are Rumored to Join In the Performance

As if Beyonce and Bruno Mars joining the performance isn’t enough, there are rumors that additional artists may join in. Coldplay has collaborated with so many artists over the years that the possibilities are endless if this rumor is true. From Jay-Z to Kanye West, to Rihanna, to U2, Coldplay has teamed up with so many big names. But, there’s also the possibility that an artist with no connection to Coldplay at all could drop in for added shock value. Whatever the case, it’s sure to be an entertaining show.

Rihanna and Justin Timberlake are rumored to be dropping in as part of the show. Beyonce may have a “celebrity dance battle” in her performance and these two might be part of it.
