The Charlotte Hornets have, officially, responded.

The squad bounced back after a pair of blowout losses to open up the series with the Miami Heat, notching their first playoff victory in 14 years. Charlotte shot just 38.9 percent in the Game 3 win, but it was still a 96-80 win and, right now, that’s all that matters.

It’s also a big-time confidence boost for tonight’s Game 4 tilt as the Hornets look to even up the series.

Preview: Frank Kaminsky, this is your moment.

The rookie 7-footer attempted just one shot in the first two games and recorded just four points without even playing 20 minutes. Then, in Saturday’s 96-80 victory over the Heat, Kaminsky logged over 34 minutes and went 5-of-12 from the field for 15 points and six rebounds.

It’s exactly what Charlotte needed. Of course, that’s exactly what Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing told Hornets coach Steve Clifford.

“When you have two first-ballot Hall of Famers … and they both say, ‘Post Frank,'” Clifford joked, “you have to post Frank.”

The victory was particularly important for Charlotte, which was playing without one of its best player as Nicolas Batum sat with a strained left foot. Miami, which dominated the first two games of the series, has now lost six of its last eight road games, shooting just 34.2 percent from the floor in Game 3.
