
The trade deadline has come and gone as teams hit the home stretch towards the playoffs. Teams like the Rangers, Giants and Dodgers made moves to increase their chances of a deep October run. This week's rankings feature a new team at the top along with another team breaking back into the rankings after a long hiatus. The Rangers have hit a hot streak while the Giants continue to sputter. The AL East continues to feature three teams in the rankings with four of five teams standing above the .500 mark. No. 10 Detroit Tigers
Standings: 2nd in AL Central
Last Week's Ranking: Not Ranked
Outlook: Detroit is on a hot streak after sweeping the Astros and Red Sox. The Tigers hope to build on their momentum with a homestand against the White Sox and Mets. Detroit enters Heavy's rankings after last week's absence in light of being one of the hottest teams in baseball. (Getty)

No. 9 Boston Red Sox
Standings: 2nd in AL East
Last Week's Ranking: 5th
Outlook: Boston added reliever Fernando Abad as they head toward the final months in the talented AL East with all but one team standing above .500. The Red Sox were swept by the Tigers then split four games with the Angels. Boston is on the road all week with stops in Seattle and Los Angeles. (Getty)

No. 8 Cleveland Indians
Standings: 1st in AL Central
Last Week's Ranking: 9th
Outlook: Cleveland made a splash at the deadline by acquiring pitcher Andrew Miller. The highlight of last week was the Indians sweeping the A's. This week, the Tribe takes on the Twins and Yankees. (Getty)

No. 7 Baltimore Orioles
Standings: 1st in AL East
Last Week's Ranking: 6th
Outlook: The Orioles continue to hold a slight lead in the AL East in a very close race. Baltimore added some pitching depth by making a deal with the Mariners for Wade Miley. Baltimore is coming off a challenging week where they dropped series to the Rockies and Blue Jays. No. 6 Toronto Blue Jays
Standings: 3rd in AL East
Last Week's Ranking: 10th
Outlook: Toronto bolstered their pitching depth as they look to make a playoff push. The Blue Jays acquired three new pitchers including Francisco Liriano from the Pirates. The Blue Jays are coming off a good week with series wins against the Padres and Orioles. They are on the road this week against the Astros and Royals. (Getty)

No. 5 Los Angeles Dodgers
Standings: 2nd in NL West
Last Week's Ranking: 7th
Outlook: The Dodgers acquired Josh Reddick which likely sends Yasiel Puig down to the minors. Los Angeles also acquired starter Rich Hill to strengthen their rotation. Last week, the Dodgers took two of three games against the Diamondbacks. The Dodgers head to Colorado then host the Red Sox to close out the week. (Getty)

No. 4 San Francisco Giants
Standings: 1st in NL West
Last Week's Ranking: 1st
Outlook: The Giants improved their pitching rotation and bullpen by acquiring two notable pitchers prior to the trade deadline. They acquired starting pitcher Matt Moore in addition to Will Smith. San Francisco has hit a bit of a rough patch. They dropped a series to the Red Sox and split a four-game series with the Nationals. Standings: 1st in NL East
Last Week's Ranking: 3rd
Outlook: The Nationals strengthened their late-game efficiency by acquiring closer Mark Melancon. The Nationals split a four-game series with the Giants and will face the talented club again to close out the week. Standings: 1st in AL West
Last Week's Ranking: 8th
Outlook: Texas made the biggest splash at the deadline by acquiring three standout players. The Rangers traded for catcher Jonathan Lucroy, closer Jeremy Jeffress and added some batting power with Carlos Beltran in exchange for their top prospects. Standings: 1st in NL Central
Last Week's Ranking: 2nd
Outlook: The Cubs split a four-game series against their crosstown rival White Sox. They followed it up with a series win against the Mariners. After finishing up a series against the Marlins, the Cubs travel to Oakland. Chicago is on a steady pace with the most wins in baseball. (Getty)
