WWE Backlash 2016: The Results & Highlights You Need to Know

Kane vs. Bray Wyatt (No Holds Barred)

Winner: Bray beat Orton by forfeit, but Kane defeated Bray soon after!

Highlights: Due to Bray’s attack on Orton, Bray ended up getting the victory by forfeit. But Bray’s night wasn’t over though since he had to take on Kane. Kane entered the ring and got into a crazy scuffle with Bray once those red lights went blue. On the outside, Kane dropped Bray with a nice clothesline. Kane then began manhandling Bray to the delight of the crowd. Kane cleared off one of the announce tables, but Bray stopped him after using a bell to injure Kane’s chest. Kane didn’t stay down long, though; he landed a nice uppercut on Bray when he went to land a steel chair shot. Back in the ring, Bray began doing his best to get Kane off his feet. Kane stayed mobile and landed a big boot on Bray that pushed him to the outside. Kane looked to follow him, but Bray stopped him by landing a chair shot right on Kane’s leg.

Bray taunted Kane and then began cracking him over and over with the steel chair. Kane almost got slammed into the chair, but he saved himself by DDT’ing Bray onto it instead. Kane then began his comeback offense for a bit, but Bray countered his chokeslam attempt. The action then moved to the outside, where Bray cleaned Kane’s clock with a lariat. Bray then cleared off an announce table and looked to do something major to Kane on another table. He used Orton’s signature taunt and then drove Kane through the table with a Running Senton. Bray returned Kane to the ring and looked to land his Sister Abigail, but Kane woke up and chokeslammed Bray. Kane then looked to land another big move on the chair, but Bray countered him by driving him back first into the chair. While both men tried to recover, Orton shocked the crowd by making his way down to the ring. Bray looked on in shock, which then saw Kane get back to his feet. Bray ate a surprise RKO and then another chokeslam to end the match.

The Usos (Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso) vs. Heath Slater and Rhyno (Tag Team Tournament Final for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship)

Backlash 2016

Winners: The 1st Ever New Era SmackDown Tag Team Champions, Heath Slater and Rhyno!

Highlights: Heath and Jimmy got this big title match underway. Heath caught Jimmy with some nice shots and ended up getting engaged with Jey after he got tagged in. Jey paid for his mistake once Heath and Rhyno used a tag team move to put him down. Rhyno stayed in the match by working over Jey for a few moments. Heath returned to the match and tried to capitalize on Rhyno’s offense, but he got put down quickly. The Usos took Heath outside and suplexed him right into the ring post, which was then followed up with a superkick. The Usos got back into fine form by completely dominating Heath for a good while. Heath tried his best to make a comeback, but he was unable to after getting dropped with a tag team move from The Usos.

Heath finally made an impact after getting caught in a body splash collision. Rhyno got tagged in and immediately tore a new hole into The Usos. Jimmy took the brunt of Rhyno’s comeback offense. Rhyno signaled for the Gore, but he missed entirely. Heath tagged himself back in and landed two nice neckbreakers on The Usos. Heath then landed a nice Implant DDT and almost got the win, but Jey pulled him to the outside. Jimmy superkicked Heath soon after. Amidst all this confusion, Rhyno snuck in and stuck Jimmy with a Gore. Heath then got the winning pin and got the crowd on its feet for a celebration. Heath now has a SmackDown Live contract!
