Hours ahead of the premiere of Total Bellas, Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella have announced they are expecting their first child.
The couple confirmed the news on Wednesday to E!, the network which airs the new reality show about the Bella twins.
“It has always been a dream of mine to become a mother,” Brie Bella told them. “Now that it is finally real, it fills me up with so much happiness. I can’t wait to see my husband, Bryan, be a father to our child. I am so excited for this new chapter in our lives.”
Daniel Bryan also added that he couldn’t stop smiling when he heard the news. The couple is expecting the baby in the Spring of 2017, although they do not yet know the sex of the child at this time.
WWE’s Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella were married in 2014. They dated for three years prior to that, with their relationship becoming a part of the show’s storyline in 2014.
“I’ve married the man of my dreams,” Brie Bella wrote on Instagram after her wedding. “I’m officially Mrs. Danielson. It was a breathtaking sentimental ceremony that we will be sharing with all of you soon.”
Their wedding was later documented on Total Divas, the E! series about the WWE women’s division. Brie’s twin sister Nikki Bella served as the maid of honor, and some of the guests at the wedding included John Cena, Cesaro, and Jimmy Uso. John Cena would later marry Brie’s sister Nikki.
Brie revealed back in August that she and Daniel Bryan were actively trying to have a child.
Brie Bella is currently on a hiatus from the WWE for family reasons, but she recently said that she would be open to returning to the ring after she and her husband have their first child.
Daniel Bryan has expressed that he would love to return to the ring, and he technically could do so in the independent circuit if he wanted to see as it was only the WWE’s doctors that would not clear him. But doing so would put him at serious risk considering the physical damage he has already sustained, and the fact that Bryan has a wife and now a child is what’s been holding him back.
It’s also clear that Brie does not want Bryan to wrestle again, expressing in an ABC News interview earlier this year how scared she was when she saw him experience a seizure.
“I was with him with one of his seizures after a concussion,” she said. “It scared me so bad. I lost it.”
