Before we get to the Sony Open, let's take a look at last week's Tournament of Champions. It was a solid start to the year on my end, as four players from my ideal DraftKings lineup finished in the Top 10 (Hideki Matsuyama, Ryan Moore, Patrick Reed, Jimmy Walker), while my value pick (Cody Gribble, T14) put forth a nice effort. Oh yeah, and then there was Branden Grace, who ruined the party by finish 32nd in the 32-player field, which was not ideal. We'll consider most of the lineup a success, but things get a little tougher this week, as the PGA Tour keeps it in Hawaii for the Sony Open at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. A normal tournament with a 36-hole cut, this year's event features a stacked field, and when you throw in some relatively soft DraftKings pricing, there are lots of different potential options and strategies when making your DFS picks. Hideki Matsuyama
Price: $11,000
I wrote last week that I was going to continue to roll with Matsuyama until he cools off, and that's not changing now. Dating back to last fall, here's how the scintillating-hot 24-year-old has fared in his last six events: win, second place to Justin Thomas, win, win, win, second place to Justin Thomas. At some point he's going to finish outside of the Top 2, and there's a good chance that happens at Waialae, where he has three missed cuts (all as an amateur) and a DNF (2015), but he's just playing too well to fade right now. Scott Piercy
Price: $8,900
Piercy really hit a groove to end the 2016 calendar year, as he made all five cuts and racked up three Top-10 finishes in October and November. He didn't play at last week's Tournament of Champions, so there's always the concern of rust in his first tournament in a couple of months, but Waialae has treated him well lately. He has three Top-15's in his last four trips here, including a runner-up in 2015. While there are some more popular names in this price range, I think he's a sneaky bet to win this thing. (Getty)

Pat Perez
Price: $8,000
Ranked 333rd in the world following a 33rd-place finish at the CIMB Classic in October, Perez has rattled off three consecutive Top-10 finishes since, including a win at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba and a T3 at last week's Tournament of Champions. Few people in the world are playing better than the 40-year-old, who has vaulted up to No. 84 in the world, and when you throw in his course history at Waialae (four career Top-10's and three Top-20's in the last four years), this sets up as a great spot for him. Charles Howell
Price: $7,800
Yet another player with an enticing play of recent form and great course history. Howell finished the 2016 calendar year with three consecutive Top-15 finishes, and now he's ready to take on Waialae, where he has never missed a cut, has a ridiculous seven Top-10's since 2005 and is fourth all-time on the money list here. If you like following the oddsmakers when making your DFS picks, Howell is tied for the ninth-shortest odds to win (40-to-1, along with Piercy, Perez and a couple others), but he's priced as just the 23rd-most expensive option on DraftKings. Hello, value. (Getty)

Harris English
Price: $7,500
English finished 56th at this tournament last year, but in his previous three tournaments he was ninth, fourth and third. He has said that Waialae is one of his favorite courses, and he has the putting skills (sixth on Tour in strokes gained putting last season) to do some damage here. (Getty)

Jerry Kelly
Price: $6,800
Another course horse, Kelly has finished inside the Top 10 at this tournament in each of the last three years. The fields were admittedly weaker then, but the 50-year-old is clearly comfortable here. Even if he doesn't get another Top 10, he shouldn't have too much trouble providing value at this price. (Getty)
