The world’s best PGA Tour players–or at least those who were able to prevail last season–are in Maui this week for the prestigious Tournament of Champions.
Pitting all of the year’s previous tournament winners (minus a few who have dropped out) against each other, the first tournament of the calendar year is always one of the most compelling. Leading the way this year is Jordan Spieth (5/1), who rolled to a dominant eight-stroke victory a year ago but will have plenty of competition as the mountain-top of golf seems to continually be getting more crowded.
The co-favorite in Kapalua along with Spieth is Hideki Matsuyama, who ended 2016 on an unbelievable run. After closing the official 2015-16 season with a fifth-place finish at the Tour Championship, the 24-year-old piled up an absurd four wins in six events (along with a runner-up and a T6), including an impressive triumph at the WGC-HSBC Champions. If 2016 was the year Dustin Johnson went from good to elite, 2017 could very well be the year the same thing happens for Matsuyama.
Speaking of DJ, he’s the next favorite in line (11/2), while World No. 1 Jason Day (8/1) and 2015 champion Patrick Reed (12/1) aren’t far behind.
Here’s a complete look at the odds for every player in the field at Kapalua:
