A new WWE pay-per-view has just been announced for this summer.

Great Balls of Fire will be a Raw-exclusive pay-per-view airing on July 9th, 2017. This information was revealed on the American Airlines Center’s Facebook page; that’s the arena where the pay-per-view is being hosted in Dallas, Texas.

This is not actually a new pay-per-view being added into the existing schedule. Rather, this is taking the place of Bad Blood, which had been announced as the Raw exclusive pay-per-view airing on July 9th. Bad Blood had been a previously established pay-per-view series, but Great Balls of Fire is new.

The American Airlines Center’s Facebook page also revealed that Great Balls of Fire will feature Brock Lesnar defending his Universal Championship for the first time since WrestleMania 33.

So who might Brock Lesnar face at Great Balls of Fire? For the past month, the rumor has been that Lesnar is going to face Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship sometime this summer, and Great Balls of Fire seems like the perfect venue for that match. We’ll have a better idea of how likely this match is after Payback, this Sunday’s WWE pay-per-view in which Braun Strowman faces Roman Reigns.

After all, on the first Raw following WrestleMania 33, Braun Strowman confronted Brock Lesnar and said that he was going to destroy Roman Reigns in order to get Lesnar’s attention. If Strowman really does dominate Reigns this Sunday, that would serve as the perfect beginning to a Strowman vs. Lesnar storyline.

There’s another pay-per-view in between Payback and Great Balls of Fire, however: Extreme Rules, which will air on June 4th, 2017, broadcast live from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. At this time, there are no other Raw-exclusive pay-per-views scheduled for 2017.

By the time Great Balls of Fire rolls around, it will have been over three months since Brock Lesnar had a match with the Universal Championship on the line.

Tickets for Great Balls of Fire go on sale on Friday, May 5th at 10 a.m. Eastern Time.
