WWE superstar Roman Reigns did not take kindly this week to critics telling him that he doesn’t deserve to be the company’s top guy.

On Tuesday, a critic of Joe Anoaʻi said on Twitter that the 32-year-old wrestler has not earned anything that he has been given, saying that he was positioned at the top thanks to his family connections.

Reigns immediately shut this person down, saying that he has been working hard five days a week for the past seven years, constantly missing out on quality time with his wife and daughter.

In response to this tweet, a separate critic of Roman Reigns wrote, “How about the other guys that work their butt off and get away from their wife and kids for years too and still jobbing?” Roman responded by saying that it’s not as if these people are jobbing for free, also saying that not everyone who works with the WWE has the same schedule and responsibilities

Of course, there are few WWE wrestlers who receive quite as much hate as Roman Reigns, who has been positioned as the company’s top guy but who a significant portion of fans strongly dislike, although the majority of them take issue with the writing behind Roman’s character and not the man himself.

Roman Reigns generally does not response to the hate, but every once in a while, he’ll hit back against a hater on Twitter. The most recent time that happened was in April, when someone tweeted an animated image of a cartoon character having trash thrown at them in a wrestling ring, and Roman responded by mocking this person for tweeting “another grown man cartoons.”

In interviews, Roman Reigns has generally said that he doesn’t mind fans reacting negatively to him, as all he’s looking for is a passionate reaction.

“As long as they’re coming, as long as they’re making noise, have fun, man,” Reigns said on the Talk is Jericho podcast in April. “Boo the s–t out of me. If it’s making you cooler with this dude and that dude next to you and y’all are having a great night, please, say all you want to me. I’m a grown man. You’re not going to hurt my feelings.”
