WWE Great Balls of Fire: Does Finn Balor Have a Match on the Card?

UPDATE: Weirdly, there was an impromptu match at Great Balls of Fire like many expected; however, it was between Heath Slater and Curt Hawkins. As soon as this match began, the entire crowd began to chant, “We want Balor!”

Great Balls of Fire, the newest WWE pay-per-view, is now underway, but fans who are hoping to see Finn Balor will be disappointed. Balor does not have a match on the card.

Some have speculated that Balor will have an impromptu match or segment, most likely with Elias Samson. It remains to be seen if this will happen. That seems like something that would be great for the kickoff show, yet on the kickoff, Balor was nowhere to be seen.

The Great Balls of Fire card is already fairly packed as it is, especially considering the fact that there is a 30-minute Iron Man match between The Hardy Boyz and Cesaro and Sheamus that will eat up a significant chunk of time.

This is the third pay-per-view to take place since Finn Balor returned following an injur, and Balor did not get a single’s match in any of these three. Though he made his return immediately after WrestleMania, he had no role at Payback, the first pay-per-view following WrestleMania. At Extreme Rules, he competed in the fatal five-way to determine the new number one contender for the Universal Championship. At Great Balls of Fire, he was given no place on the card.

On Monday Night Raw recently, Finn Balor has had something of a mini-feud with Elias Samson. On the June 19th episode, Samson was singing a song in the ring when he was interrupted by Balor. Later, Samson attacked Balor backstage, telling Balor to never upstage him again.

This past week, Finn Balor had a match against Cesaro on Raw, and Elias Samson came out and caused a distraction. This very nearly caused Finn Balor to lose, but Balor ultimately emerged victorious, with The Hardy Boyz getting involved at ringside. It would make sense to conclude this feud with a match between Finn Balor and Elias Samson, but it seems that there was not enough room on the Great Balls of Fire card for this.
