WWE: Recap of ‘Talking Smack’ for July 11th

WWE.com This week on 'Talking Smack,' the guests were John Cena, The Usos and Sami Zayn.

Each week after SmackDown Live, some key character development takes place on the after show, Talking Smack. But while SmackDown Live airs on USA, Talking Smack is exclusive to the WWE Network. So for those fans who want to stay up to date on the blue brand but who don’t subscribe to the WWE Network, here’s a quick recap of the July 11th episode of Talking Smack.

After Renee Young and Shane McMahon spend a few minutes bantering and comparing their tans, The Usos join the show. Shane says that he personally would have given them the victory in the rap battle against The New Day last week. Moving on to talk about tonight’s events, Jey Uso says that The New Day are always out there cheating, and it’s always three on two. The Usos don’t seem concerned about Jey losing to Xavier Woods tonight, as they say that their bread and butter is tag team matches, not single’s competition.

Next, Renee Young and Shane McMahon start talking about Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura, with Young saying that Corbin seems to have a chip on his shoulder and that he should be careful because Nakamura has been training and will be a tough competitor in the ring.

Sami Zayn is introduced as the next guest, and he seems to be in a lot of pain from when he was hit with a glass vase earlier. Shane McMahon says he liked Maria Kanellis’ one-liner after she hit Zayn, and Zayn is upset that Shane is making light of the situation. Zayn says that Maria and Mike Kanellis’ public displays of affection have been difficult to watch. He also says that he did the right thing and apologized even though he never intended to interrupt them. When he came out to the ring while they were speaking a few weeks ago, he says he simply came out when he heard his theme kick in and that he doesn’t control the show’s audio and video. Zayn says that he was legitimately sorry that he accidentally interrupted them last week. But he thinks it’s ridiculous that they want a third apology, and now he’s ready to kick Mike Kanellis’ ass.

John Cena then joins the panel. Renee Young asks about what Cena has been doing for the past few months, but he just wants to talk about Battleground. Cena describes a Flag Match as a match where anything can happen, and not necessarily a match you can plan for. Cena says that normally he would not be worried to face Rusev, but he feels particularly pressured to win this match at Battleground because if he loses, he would feel like he left the United States down. Cena says that he wants to make clear to everyone that he’s still the best and can still take down anyone in the ring. He also says that he tries to be on SmackDown Live as often as he can because his heart is still here.
