De'Andre Hunter : Solid again off bench
Hunter scored 22 points (7-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT), dished one assist and blocked one shot in 30 minutes of action during the 119-110 loss to the Knicks on Monday. Hunter certainly didn't lose his scoring touch during his two-game absence due to a foot injury last week. The forward is averaging 19 points on 46.4 percent shooting from the field between the two contests since his return. However, he was unable to contribute in other areas of the game Monday, which certainly impacted his fantasy performance, particularly in category leagues. He'll look to deliver a more balanced stat sheet Wednesday against the Pistons.
Jalen Johnson : Double-double in loss
Johnson logged 11 points (4-12 FG, 3-3 FT), 12 rebounds, four assists and a block in 35 minutes during Monday's 119-110 loss to the Knicks. The fourth-year forward logged his second straight double-double in two games back from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for just over two weeks. Although his efficiency in both games has been less than desirable, it's certainly possible that Johnson's just shaking off the rust, especially as he was shooting over 50 percent from the field prior to going down at the beginning of the month. His next outing comes Wednesday against the Pistons.
Onyeka Okongwu : Near double-double as starter
Okongwu put up 14 points (7-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt), nine rebounds, two assists and two steals over 28 minutes of action in Monday's 119-110 loss to the Knicks. After logging a double-double in his last three games off the bench, Okongwu fell just short of that mark in his first outing as a starter this season. Given the fact that usual starter Clint Capela put together a similar stat line in reduced minutes with the second unit, there's a chance Okongwu's promotion isn't permanent. However, he's proven himself a fantasy option to keep an eye on nonetheless, particularly in deeper formats. His next chance to start will come Wednesday against the Pistons.
Clint Capela : Coming off bench
Capela will come off the bench Monday against the Knicks, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports. With Onyeka Okongwu in the midst of the best stretch of his career, this move was inevitable. Capela played 21 minutes or fewer in his last three games, and his fantasy upside could be limited going forward with the Hawks giving Okongwu more playing time.
Onyeka Okongwu : Enters starting lineup
Okongwu will enter the starting lineup for Monday's game against New York, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports. The writing has been on the wall for some time now, as Okongwu is in the midst of the best stretch of his career. Clint Capela will move to the second unit with this news. Okongwu's fantasy arrow is pointing straight up, with the big man averaging 18.3 points, 15.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 blocks over his last three games.
Jalen Johnson : Gets green light
Johnson (shoulder) will play Monday against the Knicks, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Johnson continues to manage soreness in his shoulder, but he was able to shake off another probable tag. With a back-to-back set coming up on Wednesday and Thursday, the Hawks could consider a maintenance day in the near future.
Trae Young : Cleared to play
Young (Achilles) will play Monday against the Knicks, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Young was previously listed as probable, so it's not a surprise to see him activated in a matchup versus New York that he always looks forward to. Young has been hot in January with averages of 28.4 points, 10.7 assists, 2.7 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 3.4 three-pointers over his last seven games.
Jalen Johnson : Likely to play Monday
Johnson is probable for Monday's game against the Knicks due to right shoulder inflammation, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Johnson has been dealing with a shoulder problem for quite some time, but the probable tag suggests he's going to play through it and should handle his regular workload. He tallied 14 points (5-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-7 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block across 38 minutes Saturday in the Hawks' 119-115 overtime win over the Celtics.
