Alvarez’s Record

Canelo Alvarez comes into Saturday night with a record of 63-2-2 in his pro boxing career that spans back to Oct. 29 of 2005. He was 42-0-1 before his first career loss came against Floyd Mayweather on Sept. 14 of 2013.

The only other loss of Alvarez’s career came in 2022, when he lost the WBA light heavyweight title to Dmitri Bivol.

His most recent fight was against William Scull on May 3 of this year, which he won to improve his record to 63-2-2 where it currently stands.

Crawford’s Record

Terence Crawford enters this historic match with an undefeated pro poxing record of 41-0-0. He has 31 knockouts in his undefeated career that spans back to 2008.

It’s been over a year since Crawford entered the ring in a pro fight, which came on Aug. 3 against Israil Madrimov, a match that he won by decision.

Betting Odds

Canelo Alvarez comes into the fight as the slight favorite, at -170 to win, while Crawford stands at a modest +140.

Some intriguing prop bets include “Crawford to be knocked down and Alvarez to win by decision” at +450, “Alvarez to be knocked down 2+ times” at +1600 and “Crawford to be knocked down 3+ times” at +2000.

The books clearly favor Alvarez both outright and in the props, but there is certainly good value for Crawford if you have a good feeling about his chances.

Predictions

ESPN released a number of insider and celebrity predictions, ranging from current and former boxers, betting experts and celebrities.

Some of the picks include Amir Khan and Mike Tyson who both picked Crawford to win by decision, while ESPN’s betting expert Ian Parker believes Canelo will win by decision.

The majority of former and current boxers believe that Crawford will win.

Khan, who lost to both Crawford and Canelo in his career, had this to say about the fight:

“It’s a great fight for the fans,” Khan said. “If it comes down to being a boxer and moving around, I got Crawford destroying Canelo easily. Canelo has to dig deep and go back to how he used to fight back in the day against the likes of Floyd Mayweather and those guys where he doesn’t give a damn and walks through you.”

“But it’s a 50-50 fight. I lean toward Crawford. Why? Because Crawford is the fresher fighter. Canelo has had too many tough fights.”
