Oregon Gets Rematch Against Indiana in the Peach Bowl
Back in October, Oregon was stunned with a 10-point loss to Indiana at Eugene despite being heavy favorites. Now, the Ducks get another shot at the Hoosiers in the Peach Bowl, but Indiana may be even hotter.
“… And it’s such a great, historic venue, the Rose Bowl. It’s such an iconic point of not only college sports, of all of sports,” Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza explained during a January 1, press conference, per On3.
“So I think it’s such a great opportunity for all of us to be able to to be Rose Bowl champions. However, we have a very tough opponent in Oregon so we’re looking on them.”
Miami Takes on Ole Miss in an Improbable Fiesta Bowl Matchup
While the Peach Bowl features a Big Ten rematch, the Fiesta Bowl features two improbable opponents. Ole Miss lost head coach Lane Kiffin to LSU amid a playoff run.
There was some discussion that Ole Miss could be penalized by the committee for no longer having Kiffin on the sideline. This did not come to fruition, and the Rebels are one game away from playing for a national title.
Miami needed to jump Notre Dame at the last minute in the final CFP rankings to secure the final at-large spot. Now, the Canes are as hot as any college football team in the country.
“We keep getting better and better up front,” Miami head coach Mario Cristobal noted after Miami topped Ohio State, per USA Today. “We don’t think we have arrived by any stretch, but we certainly think we’re getting better.
“When you play a team like that (Ohio State) that’s been the No. 1 defense in the country the entire year… you have to not only hit, but you’ve got to be willing to take the hits and keep coming, because that’s what it’s going to be.”
