The Georgia Bulldogs have had a lot of success on the football field. They are the last college football program to win back-to-back national championships. Kirby Smart has built one of the model programs in the country when it comes to on-field success.

Off the field, the Bulldogs have faced a lot of outside criticism. There have been many high-profile incidents, especially with players being arrested for driving at high rates of speed. Critics have come at Smart for not being able to handle his program and not instilling any discipline.

Those cries will only grow louder after yet another incident occurred with the Bulldogs, this time with a freshman who has a famous father.

Georgia Bulldogs Freshman Arrested on 11 Felony Charges

Freshman defensive lineman London Seymour was arrested on 11 second-degree felony counts of property damage, according to CBS Sports. Seymour is the son of former New England Patriot Richard Seymour. The freshman was booked into the county jail and released a short time later.

Seymour was part of the 2025 recruiting class and appeared in just one game this past season. That was a game against Marshall. He’s a former three-star recruit and is someone who is hoping to get playing time in the next couple of years.

The event in question allegedly happened at a dorm on campus, although no details have been provided about that incident. As mentioned, this is not the first incident that has happened under Smart’s watch. There have been a whole slew of them that he has come under fire for.

In 2025, four Bulldogs were arrested for various off-field incidents. Three of them were for reckless driving or speeding. Another one was for shoplifting. Smart has had multiple players arrested prior to 2025, as well. This latest incident is the first of 2026.

The Georgia Bulldogs Have Lofty Ambitions for 2026

Even with the off-field problems, the Bulldogs have some lofty expectations for the 2026 season. Despite falling to Ole Miss in the 2025 College Football Playoff, they have national championship aspirations. The schedule sets them up well to compete for an SEC title again.

The Bulldogs avoid Texas, Tennessee, and Texas A&M in the regular season. While they do play at Alabama, the rest of their tough games are at home. They do play at Ole Miss, but the Rebels likely won’t have Trinidad Chambliss after his waiver was denied.

Smart needs to make sure that his players are able to stay out of trouble so that the team can actually have a shot of making the 12-team College Football Playoff again. The Bulldogs have as much talent as any team in the country, but they need to be able to have guys stay on the field.

Smart likely won’t have any comment on this latest arrest for quite a while, as the college football offseason is in full swing. The Bulldogs will likely comment at some point.
