The Georgia Bulldogs are losing a lot of wide receiver production headed into this long college football offseason. Names like Zachariah Branch, Dillon Bell, and Colbie Young have all decided to enter their names in the NFL Draft.
However, on Thursday, the Bulldogs landed their first commitment this transfer portal period, and the player formerly hails from one of Georgia’s biggest rivals, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. It was announced on Thursday that former Yellow Jackets’ wide receiver Isiah Canian has committed to Georgia, according to ON3’s website.
Georgia Lands Isiah Canian from Transfer Portal
Transfer portal season is officially here in college football, and hundreds of collegiate players across the country are deciding to take their talents elsewhere. Georgia’s first commitment came from former Clemson Safety Khalil Barnes.
For what is now a depleted wide receiver group (for now) for Georgia, adding Canion will add a future play-maker for Bulldogs’ quarterback Gunner Stockton, and Canion serves as the first player that head coach Kirby Smart has signed from the Yellow Jackets.

Canion comes over with two years of eligibility left and has really developed into a trustworthy threat for former teammate Haynes King. Isiah Canion hauled in 33 passes in 2025 for 480 yards and four touchdowns.
His most productive outing came against the Pitt Panthers, where he had two touchdowns. Against the Bulldogs in late November, Canion caught four passes for 54 yards.
He is a Georgia boy, regardless of which state powerhouse program he now attends. Isiah Canion was a standout wideout at Warner Robins High School. He will likely serve as Georgia’s slot option in 2026 after losing Colbie Young and others to the draft.
Georgia’s Current Wide Receiver Options
Adding Canion to the current Georgia receiver room is a big addition for the time being, but the Bulldogs will have to replicate the production of Noah Thomas, Colbie Young, Dillon Bell, and Zachariah Branch somehow.
Losing Branch really stings, as he was a standout in his one year with the UGA football program, leading the team in receiving yards and leading all pass-catchers in receptions by nearly 40.
Georgia is certainly a desirable destination for receivers to land, especially with Gunner Stockton spending another season as the signal caller; however, the Bulldogs have never been huge in helping receivers turn out massive seasons, aside from Branch in 2025.
Current internal wide receivers for the Bulldogs heading into next season include Talyn Taylor and CJ Wiley, who both showed glimpses this season of flourishing into quality pass-catching options.
