The Georgia Bulldogs are one of the powerhouses of college football. Every year, they are a contender to not just win the SEC, but also win the national championship. While they weren’t able to win a national title this season, they have their sights set on doing that next season.

Georgia should once again have one of the best defenses in the country next season. Something they weren’t great at last season was running the football. The Bulldogs were just 35th in the country in rush yards per game, which is light for them.

The Bulldogs look like they will be better with that in 2027. They have now landed the best running back in the country in the 2027 recruiting class.

Georgia Bulldogs Land Commitment From Kemon Spell

Kemon Spell, a running back from McKeesport, PA, has committed to the Bulldogs. He is the top running back in the country for the 2027 recruiting class. Spell was courted by many of the top college football programs in the nation, including Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Penn State.

Ultimately, Spell decided on Georgia. He stands at 5’9 and 205 pounds, and mixes speed and power. Not only is he the top running back in the country, but he is currently listed as the seventh-best overall player in the nation, according to the 247Sports composite.

Bringing Spell into the fold gives the Bulldogs six commitments for the 2027 recruiting class. He is the only five-star recruit right now, but it is very early in the recruiting cycle. Keeping Spell will be tough as well. NIL offers will likely keep flowing his way until he officially signs with Georgia.

Kirby Smart has proven that he can develop running backs just as well or better than any other head coach in the country. Running the ball is at the core of what they want to do with their offense. Spell would give them a truly dynamic option at that position.

The Georgia Bulldog Have a Light Schedule in 2026

As the Bulldogs look to make a run at a title in 2026, they will have a relatively easy schedule. While they do have road games against Alabama and Ole Miss, both programs will be worse next season. With Lane Kiffin now at LSU, the Rebels are candidates to regress in a major way.

Georgia avoids LSU, Texas, and Tennessee on the schedule. They also get Oklahoma and Vanderbilt at home, which are their two other hardest games. None of the non-conference games should cause the Bulldogs any issues, although the rivalry game against Georgia Tech is always tough.

Building on making the 12-team College Football Playoff in 2025 is a goal of theirs next year. It would be shocking if the Bulldogs aren’t able to make the 12-team Playoff again next season. They only added nine recruits from the Transfer Portal, but they didn’t lose a ton of guys, either.
