Georgia running back Nate Frazier was injured during the team's CFP game against Ole Miss on January 1.

The Georgia Bulldogs had been on hiatus for nearly a month, but finally, on New Year’s Day, January 1, the team was ready to get back to the field and headed to New Orleans, Louisiana, to go up against the Ole Miss Rebels in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Sadly, in the fourth quarter of the game, one of Georgia’s biggest stars, sophomore running back Nate Frazier, went down with an injury to what appeared to be his lower leg.

After going down on the field, Frazier was helped off the field and towards the sidelines as the game’s final minutes started to wind down. Georgia monitored the situation, and Frazier didn’t return to the game. It’s worth noting that Frazier was seen limping off the field and into the medical tent after the injury.

“Nate Frazier has been running so well tonight. Georgia does have running back depth but none have been playing at the same level. That’s a really unfortunate loss,” one viewer said on X.

“Nate Frazier has more than half of Georgia football’s rushing yards at the midway point of the Sugar Bowl vs Ole Miss,” noted Savannah Now on X.

“Nate Frazier, Georgia’s star running back, is down after that last carry and looks to be grabbing his left knee. Limping heavily as he comes off the field, hate to see that,” said Matt Infield of WMC Action News.

Update on Georgia Football Sophomore Running Back Nate Frazier

Frazier was injured near a 2-yard rush up the middle, when he was tackled by Zxavian Harris. It’s difficult to say whether it was his knee or ankle, but he was pointing to trainers that it was his left lower leg that was hurting.

Up until that point in the game, Frazier had 15 rushes for 86 yards, plus three receptions for 42 yards in the Sugar Bowl, so it’s been a strong showing.

Georgia and Ole Miss Wrap Up College Football Playoff Quarterfinal Round

The game between No. 3 Georgia, with their 12-1 record, and No. 6 Ole Miss, with their 12-1 record, wraps up the College Football Playoff quarterfinal round. The winner, of course, will go onto the semifinal. The Rebels are making headlines for this game, because they’re without head coach Lane Kiffin, who took the LSU coaching job right before the season concluded.

With a last-minute field goal, Ole Miss squeaked by Georgia, with a 39-34 victory. Even if it’s not the outcome Georgia fans wanted, the College Football Playoff is pure excitement, the kind that keeps fans glued to the screen and hearts racing until the final whistle.

Every game feels bigger, louder and more meaningful. It all comes to a head in these finals, and it’s just a great way to ring in a new year. Now, let’s hope Frazier gets some good injury news following this difficult loss.
