The LSU Tigers have plenty of notable players playing in the NFL currently. One of them, cornerback Tre’Davious White, was one of the biggest names talked about on Saturday during the playoffs.
White and his team, the Buffalo Bills, traveled to Denver to take on the Broncos. While the Bills fought hard, they came up short and saw their season come to an end by a final score of 33-30 in overtime.
Late in overtime on the Broncos’ game-winning drive, Buffalo was punished twice for pass interference calls. The second was on White, which happened to be the play that sealed the game. White was also hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Following the game, the former LSU star did not hold back at all on NFL officials. He issued a brutal callout for the referees in the game.
“I just think it should be up to the players to decide the game,” White said. “Referees just don’t know ball man.”
Looking Back on Tre’Davious White’s College Career at LSU
During his time with the Tigers from the 2013 season through 2026, White was an absolute star for LSU.
He ended up totaling 167 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, six interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 14 defended passes. All 14 of those defended passes came during his senior season with the Tigers.
It was clear immediately that he had NFL talent. However, he has turned himself into a longtime professional cornerback who is still making a very positive impact at 31 years old.
Unfortunately, seeing him have such a rough end to the season was disappointing. LSU fans have continued supporting White at the NFL level and will continue to do so.
White & the Bills Suffer Yet Another Crushing Playoff Defeat
Sadly, this has become a trend for Buffalo. Over the last few years, the Bills have looked like a serious Super Bowl contender. They simply haven’t been able to get over the hump.
Once again, Buffalo squandered what appeared to be a great opportunity to win and move on to the AFC Championship Game.
With just 4:11 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Bills saw Matt Prater nail a 31-yard field goal to increase their lead to 27-23. After that play, Denver was able to take a 30-27 lead with just 55 seconds left on a 26-yard touchdown pass from Bo Nix to Marvin Mims Jr.
Buffalo was able to move into field goal position and give Prater a 50-yard kick to tie the game and send it to overtime.
After getting a stop against the Broncos to begin overtime, Josh Allen and company were unable to seal the deal. Allen threw a pick deep in Denver territory and Nix continued on to lead a game-winning drive.
White will be a name worth keeping an eye on this offseason. The former LSU superstar will be a free agent during the NFL offseason. There is a chance that he could consider retirement, although it’s clear from this season that he’s still capable of playing a role.
Either way, it’s clear how he feels about how this year’s season came to an end. White is furious with the NFL officials who refereed the game.
