Carson Beck’s college football career is officially over. He cannot play again in 2026.

After six seasons, two programs, and a run that ended in the College Football Playoff National Championship game loss, the Miami quarterback no longer has eligibility and is now preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft.

As Yahoo Sports noted, despite lingering confusion online about whether Beck could return for another year, the answer is definitive: he cannot.

His redshirt season, combined with the NCAA’s COVID-19 eligibility waiver, allowed him to play through the 2025-26 season and no further.

That puts an end to the eligibility debates and turns the focus to a much bigger question: what does Carson Beck’s NFL future actually look like?

Carson Beck’s NFL Draft Profile

Beck’s path to the NFL has had many ups and downs.

Once considered a potential top-10 pick during his Georgia days, his draft stock fell after a rocky 2024 season and elbow injury in the SEC Championship Game.

Opting to transfer to Miami for one final season, Beck put together his most efficient statistical year yet:

He had 3,581 passing yards, 29 touchdowns, a 73.3% completion rate and only 11 interceptions.

His college football career concluded with 11,500 passing yards and 87 touchdowns.

Scouts praise his processing ability:

“He sees the field quickly and gets the ball out on time,” one AFC personnel director said.

Beck’s strength is not in elite athleticism, but his poise, accuracy and ability to read opposing defenses is what has attracted NFL scouts.

There are also some concerns:

His arm strength grades average at best, as well as his limited mobility and age.

At nearly 24 years old entering the league, Beck won’t offer the same developmental upside as younger QBs.

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. added, “He’s a guy I think could be a career backup with starting quarterback potential in the NFL. I’d say late Day 2, early Day 3 for him.”

He is currently the No. 6 quarterback prospect on Kiper’s 2026 NFL Draft big board.

Which NFL Teams Make Sense for Beck?

The 2026 quarterback market isn’t deep which could help his draft stock.

Several teams could view Beck as a high-value selection and could reach on him because of the weak QB class.

Bleacher Report points to the Los Angeles Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers is great fits for Beck.

The Rams’ immediate future still revolves around Matthew Stafford, but there is no long-term succession plan in place.

While some projections have the Rams targeting a quarterback early, they could instead opt to wait and take a calculated swing on Beck later in the draft.

He may not have elite upside, but Beck fits the profile of a quarterback who could function effectively in Sean McVay’s system.

He is quick at processing, comfortable in rhythm passing, and has the ability to manage games when supported by a strong run game and defense.

With Mike Tomlin stepping aside and no clear long-term answer at quarterback, Pittsburgh could also emerge as a logical landing spot as well.

The Steelers have spent years patching the position with veterans, but the door is now open for a younger option to take control.

Beck would make sense as a mid-round pick who can compete immediately without requiring a massive investment.

If Beck hits, Pittsburgh finds a capable starter. If not, the Steelers position themselves to draft near the top in a loaded 2027  QB class.
