University of Michigan Wolverines basketball star Elliot Cadeau has reportedly been hospitalized due to an allergic reaction.
The guard has been a key part of Michigan’s success this season, and after the latest news, his status for the team’s Final Four game against the University of Arizona on Saturday is now in question.
Cadeau is averaging 10.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists on 41.6% shooting this season, including a few standout performances in the first few rounds of the March Madness Tournament.
What Happened To Michigan’s Elliot Cadeau?
Cadeau is reportedly in the hospital being treated for an allergic reaction in the lead-up to Michigan’s travel to Indianapolis for the 2026 men’s college basketball Final Four.
The news first emerged after a video was posted on X by a local radio station.
“NEW… a member of the Michigan Wolverines basketball team needed medical attention as the team prepared to depart for the Final Four this afternoon from Ann Arbor. Sources say an allergic reaction. Player, said to be fine, expected to join the team later,” WWJ 950 wrote on social media.
In an official statement, Michigan men’s basketball confirmed the player was the junior Cadeau.
“Before the team departed the Player Development Center today, Elliot alerted the medical staff that he may have had an allergic reaction to something that he ate,” the team said in a statement, per the Associated Press. “The doctors evaluated Elliot and he is fine. Out of an abundance of caution, he is receiving medical supervision and will be traveling to Indianapolis later today.”
While the team did announce that he will travel later in the day to Indianapolis, his final status for the Final Four game against Arizona has not yet been determined.
It was reported a few days ago that Cadeau plans on returning to Michigan for his senior year, regardless of what happens this season with the Wolverines.

Michigan entered the March Madness tournament as a top seed in the Midwest region after going 29-2 (19-1 Big Ten) in the regular season. They finished with losses to only Wisconsin and Duke.
In the Big Ten Tournament, Michigan beat Ohio State, and Wisconsin, but went on to lose to Purdue in the conference championship game. However, they still grabbed a number one seed in March Madness.
In the first round of the men’s college basketball tournament, the Wolverines routed 16th seeded Howard 101-80.
They then went on to have another dominant win over Saint Louis Univeristy, ending victorious, 95-72.
Michigan had arguably one of their toughest tests of the season in the Sweet Sixteen as they faced Alabama. However, like much of their other games, their talent outmatched that of the SEC power, winning 90-77.
Most recently, the Wolverines had a date with Tennessee in the Elite 8. Once again, Yaxel Lendeborg, Morez Johnson Jr., Aday Mara, Cadeau, and the rest of the roster showed up for what ended up being their largest margin of victory in the tournament this year, beating the Volunteers 95-62.
Michigan now has a date with Arizona, a team that spent much of the season as the top-ranked team in the country. That game will come on Saturday, April 4, at 8:49 pm EST on TBS, TruTV, and HBO Max.
While the team did announce Cadeau will travel later on and meet the team in Indianapolis, after being hospitalized for an allergic reaction, his final status is still undetermined.
