The Ohio State Buckeyes did not finish out their 2025 season as planned. After making the College Football Playoff as the No. 2 seed, the Buckeyes were quickly eliminated in their first game by the Miami Hurricanes.
For Ryan Day and the team, that ended what had been a great all-around season. They had gone undefeated up until the Big Ten Championship when they lost to Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers.
Losing that game has left a sour taste in Ohio State’s mouth. While there is nothing the Buckeyes can do to change the past, they’re focused on getting back on track in 2026.
Keeping that in mind, one of Ohio State’s senior leaders has spoken out with a clear warning to the rest of college football about next season.
Ohio State WR Brandon Innis Warns Puts College Football on Notice
During an interview with Andy Anders of Eleven Warriors, Innis spoke out with a very clear warning to the rest of the nation. The Buckeyes are going to be back with a vengeance in 2026.
“We’ve still got a bad taste in our mouth,” Innis said. “This whole year, we’re going to be living with that, what happened to us. But we’ve got to work hard. Ain’t nothing going to be given to us. We’ve just got to be where our feet are right now and work hard in the offseason.”
Thankfully, Ohio State has two key stars returning for at least one more season. Both quarterback Julian Sayin and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith will be back in Columbus.
On paper, the Buckeyes should have plenty of talent to get back on track and make another attempt at a National Championship run.
Where Does Brandon Inniss Fit Into the Buckeyes’ Offense?
During the 2025 season with Ohio State, Inniss played a decent role. He didn’t put up big numbers, but he played well when called upon and was a good locker room leader.
Inniss caught 36 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns.
Throughout his entire three-year career with the Buckeyes, Inniss has racked up 51 catches for 505 yards and five touchdowns. His numbers don’t show his entire impact.
As for where he might fit with Ohio State in 2026, he’s likely going to have a similar role. Smith will still be the No. 1 wide receiver for the Buckeyes, while incoming freshman Chris Henry Jr. will play a huge role as well.
Ohio State should be a top-tier contender once again. Day and company will have a lot of work to do in the Big Ten with Indiana and plenty of other high-profile programs hoping to win a title. But, if the Buckeyes play up to their potential, they’ll have a fighting chance at winning it all.
