The Ohio State Buckeyes and quarterback Julian Sayin are gearing up for the 2026 college football season. After coming up short last year, the only goal for this season is to win a National Championship.
Sayin took college football by storm in his first season as a starter last year. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist and has become one of the top stars in the nation entering his second season as a starter.
During the 2025 season with the Buckeyes, Sayin completed 77 percent of his pass attempts for 3,610 yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He was elite all season long. Fans should expect more of the same in 2026.
With that being said, Sayin has spoken out with a clear warning to the rest of the nation.
Ohio State Buckeyes QB Julian Sayin Delivers Bold Message
In an interview with On3 Sports, Sayin made it clear that he has big goals for the upcoming campaign. He’s targeting bringing another championship back to Columbus.
When asked about finally ending the losing streak against Michigan, Sayin didn’t hold back.
“That’s something we needed to get done, but there’s still more,” Sayin said.
“We want to put another one of these banners up. The standard at Ohio State is to win every game. We’ve seen what the players that came before us have done, and it’s our responsibility to uphold that standard.”
Those comments are exactly what fans would want to hear from a starting quarterback. Sayin has checked all of the boxes since arriving at Ohio State. He’s looking to take his game up even higher this season.
Ryan Day Has the Roster to Win It All Once Again
On paper, there is nothing stopping the Buckeyes from winning another championship.
Sayin at quarterback is just one piece of the puzzle. Ohio State is also returning standout wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Bo Jackson showed flashes of being a star running back for the Buckeyes last season.
Another offensive weapon to watch will be true freshman Chris Henry Jr.
After losing a lot of talent on the defensive side of the football to the 2026 NFL Draft, there are some questions Ohio State is facing. However, the presence of elite defensive coordinator Matt Patricia will help answer those questions.
For now, the Buckeyes deserve the respect of being a top-tier National Championship contender. Sayin will be the biggest part of that quest, but the roster as a whole and the coaching staff also give Ohio State an elite opportunity to win.
