The Oregon Ducks have secured a commitment from Dylan Raiola.

The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning are still fresh off of their embarrassing loss at the hands of the Indiana Hoosiers in the Peach Bowl, falling by a final score of 56-22.

Following that loss, Oregon headed into the offseason knowing that additions were going to be necessary.

Most importantly, quarterback Dante Moore is expected to head off to the 2026 NFL Draft. He has received many projections of being the No. 2 overall pick in the draft by the New York Jets. Lanning will need a new starting quarterback in 2026 if that happens.

Keeping that in mind, the Ducks moved quickly to find their next signal caller.

According to a report from On3 Sports, Oregon has secured a transfer portal commitment from former Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola.

Fans have not been ecstatic about the move for Oregon.

Oregon Ducks Receiving Harsh Backlash Following Dylan Raiola Commitment

With the news of Raiola’s commitment now being public, the fan reaction to the news has not been good for the Ducks. Oregon is receiving a ton of criticism.

“Dan Lanning loves losing big games ig,” one fan wrote.

Another fan chimed in, “Oregon develop your own QB challenge (impossible).”

“Committed to losing big games,” a third comment read.

“Time to find a new team to be a fan of,” a fourth fan commented.

A fifth comment said, “Lanning really committed to the no national titles bit. You have to respect it.”

Who Is Dylan Raiola and What Is Oregon Getting?

Over the last two years, Raiola has been the starting quarterback for Nebraska. He has shown flashes of major potential, but his consistency has been lacking.

Raiola has completed 69.1 percent of his career pass attempts for 4,819 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. His numbers aren’t horrible, but they also don’t stand out as star quality production.

To this point in his career, Raiola has been mostly known for his similarities to NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes. He has gone viral on multiple occasions for his look and the way he carries himself being so similar to the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback.

When Raiola originally committed to the Cornhuskers in the 2024 recruiting class, Raiola was rated as a five-star recruit by 247 Sports. He was ranked as the No. 2 overall quarterback in the class and the No. 7 overall player in the nation.

There is no denying the potential that Raiola possesses. He hasn’t been able to show that on the field in two years at Nebraska, but landing with a team like the Ducks could help him unlock his full talent. Lanning will have a chance to work some magic.

Should the young signal caller be able to reach his college ceiling, Oregon would be getting a major steal. Being rated as a five-star recruit and the No. 2 quarterback in an entire recruiting class is nothing to laugh at.

Only time will tell how this move pans out for the Ducks and Lanning. There are some risks attached to it, but Raiola’s raw talent alone makes this move worth making.
