When the 2025 college football season kicked off, Drew Allar and the Penn State Nittany Lions were widely expected to be top-tier National Championship contenders.

Unfortunately, the season did not turn out as expected. Allar went down with a season-ending injury, head coach James Franklin was fired, and Penn State finished the year with a 7-6 record.

Allar was expected to be a top quarterback prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, with the injury and a down season all-around, his stock has taken a big hit.

At this point in time, the likely outcome for Allar is that he ends up being a day two pick. He could even slide to day three. That might not be the worst thing in the world for him.

Los Angeles Rams Emerging as Possible Fit for Penn State’s Drew Allar

ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. mentioned Allar’s name when talking about quarterbacks the Los Angeles Rams could take a look at on day two of the draft.

“Los Angeles will do its homework on the quarterback class, regardless of whether Matthew Stafford plays next season,” Kiper wrote.

“But right now, coach Sean McVay might be better off waiting until Day 2 for Trinidad Chambliss (if he isn’t able to go back to Ole Miss), Drew Allar (Penn State) or Carson Beck (Miami) than reaching. Let’s stick on offense, though, after going defense with the L.A.’s other first-rounder.”

Landing with the Rams would be a perfect fit for Allar. He would be able to sit on the sideline and learn behind one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Matthew Stafford would be an excellent mentor for the Nittany Lions star.

Whenever Stafford decides to call it a career and retire, Allar could be the heir apparent.

Of course, there is no guarantee that Los Angeles will actually draft Allar. He’s simply an option that head coach Sean McVay and the Rams could look into. But, it would be an ideal team to start an NFL career with for Allar.

Looking Back at Drew Allar’s Career With the Nittany Lions

Allar ended up playing all four years of his college career at Penn State. He finished his career throwing for 7,402 yards, 61 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, while completing 63.2 percent of his pass attempts. In addition, he ran for 736 yards and 12 more touchdowns.

Even though last season ended in disaster, Allar will not be forgotten by Nittany Lions fans anytime soon.

Fans will continue rooting on the Penn State star quarterback for years to come in the NFL. Whether he lands with Los Angeles or somewhere else, he’ll have a built in fan base.

Hopefully, NFL teams don’t forget how good of a prospect Allar was heading into the 2025 season. Things may not have gone as planned, but the Nittany Lions star is a hard worker with high-end potential.

If Allar lands in the right situation, he will have a legitimate chance to develop into an NFL starting quarterback.
