The Texas Longhorns are doing the best they can to replenish a roster that loses a lot of talent heading into next season. While they have Arch Manning returning as the starting quarterback, they still need players who can catch his passes and guys who can block for him.

Adding Cam Coleman to the receiving corps will help the Longhorns in their pursuit of improving the skill positions. Texas is also looking to improve the offensive line as the Transfer Portal is getting ready to close on Friday. That means that Texas won’t lose any more players.

As the portal is about to close, the Longhorns are making a push to land the best player who has entered the portal, former Colorado tackle Jordan Seaton.

The Texas Longhorns Are set to Host Jordan Seaton on a Visit

According to Pete Nakos of On3, the Longhorns will be hosting Seaton. They, along with Oregon, are viewed as the two early favorites to land Seaton. Seaton is by far the best tackle in the Transfer Portal, and would be an easy plug-and-play for the Longhorns.

Seaton’s rumored NIL asking price is around $2.5 million. Of course, that could be incorrect. No one publishes verified NIL packages, so that rumor could have been started to help drive up Seaton’s price with whatever program he does end up signing with.

The Longhorns have the second-best overall class in the country when combining their recruiting class and the Transfer Portal rankings. Only Notre Dame sits ahead of them in those rankings. Adding Seaton would give them a chance to catch the Fighting Irish.

Adding a premier player like Seaton on the offensive line is going to be necessary if they want to beat the Ohio State Buckeyes next season. Ohio State beat them in back-to-back games, beating them in the 2024 Cotton Bowl and again in the season-opener this year.

The Texas Longhorns Have Figured Out NIL

The Longhorns have been dishing out a lot of NIL money in the portal this offseason. With real questions about the College Sports Commission’s ability to enforce any sort of cap, some programs are ignoring the guidelines. It seems the Longhorns are one of those programs.

Until the CSC is actually challenged, no one knows what will happen. They have already denied a few NIL GO deals, but not the majority of them. Texas is going to push it to the limit until they are told no, which is the right way to approach things in today’s college football landscape.

If the Longhorns have done a good job in their offseason evaluations, they will have a shot to compete for an SEC title, as well as a spot in the College Football Playoff. Steve Sarkisian is under a lot of pressure to perform next season after a disappointing 2025.

Landing Seaton would give them a great shot to do just that.
