Kagiso Rabada, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad share their feelings on Match 37 of the IPL 2026 season

The Gujarat Titans defeated the Chennai Super Kings in IPL T20 cricket action on Sunday, April 26th, 2026. Kagiso Rabada, Shubman Gill, and Ruturaj Gaikwad all spoke after the spirited match.

The NBA playoffs may be dominating sports headlines, but that does not diminish the intensity on display during the current 2026 IPL season.

The Chennai Super Kings went to bat first against the Gujarat Titans. Ruturaj led the charge for CSK, knocking 74-runs to put his team in a decent spot before GT began their chase. Sai Sudharsan, the 2025 Orange Cap winner, led the way offensively for GT. The Gujarat Titans only needed four batters to complete the chase and come out the victors.

The trio shared some thoughts after the match on a variety of topics.

Player of the Match, Kagiso Rabada, Shares His Thoughts

Kagiso put together a 3/25 spell to limit the CSK side to 158 runs. He spoke after the match on a few different topics.

Kagiso began by talking about his own performance. The bowler felt like he didn’t start things off the best way that he could.

“I honestly felt I did not start very well today,” the Player of the Match began. “But that is how cricket goes, and I am just glad I could still contribute and play my part in getting the win which we really needed.”

“My rhythm feels good right now, and the key is to maintain it and stay ahead of the game.”

Kagiso goes on to describe how the bowling group has come together over the course of the 2026 tournament.

“Staying ahead is about not taking anything for granted and sticking to your process and daily routines,” the bowler continued. “Working alongside Siraj has been great because all the fast bowlers are clear with their plans and tactics.”

“Seeing the pace group come together well while taking wickets and controlling runs has been a very enjoyable journey for us so far.”

Gujarat Titans Captain Shubman Gill Speaks

Shubman didn’t have his best showing of the 2026 tournament, but the partnership of Sai and the skipper worked their magic against CSK’s bowlers.

Shubman was pleased with his club’s overall performance.

“Very happy to get a win like this because it is never easy to win games in this part of the country,” Shubman revealed. “Apart from the last four or five overs in the field, I felt it was a pretty complete performance from us.”

Shubman goes on to discuss his thought process behind bowling first and what the club can improve in their next match.

“The surface was a bit tricky at the start, and I was unsure whether to bat or bowl first,” the skipper said. “But our powerplay bowling has been a consistent strength. If I have to be critical, finishing the innings with the ball is something we need to improve, and we will work on that in the coming games.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad Speaks About CSK’s Loss

CSK needs more than a solid performance from Ruturaj to win more matches. The CSK skipper discussed how the early wickets limited their run potential.

“It was a bit challenging in the first innings because the wicket was two-paced with medium pacers getting some hold and uneven bounce,” CSK’s skipper revealed. “But if we had not lost early wickets, we could still have reached around one seventy or one eighty, which would have been competitive. Honestly, we did not expect the pitch to play this way, and unlike the last few games, we could not read it early, and by the time we tried to adapt, it was already too late.”

Ruturaj also spoke of the frustration behind some of the decisions, and how things didn’t seem to go their way against GT.

“I was frustrated because after a good start, quick wickets fell around me, and we were trying to build something,” CSK’s skipper continued. “But opportunities to rotate strike were limited, and eventually I had to take my chances. Sending the impact player early made sense at that moment because we wanted runs after losing two quick wickets, and although it did not work out, the thought process behind the decision was right.”

“It was just one of those off days.”
