Cameron Young’s wife Kelsey Dalition and their three kids were front and center when he won the Players Championship last month, and they will be there again as he makes an unlikely run at the Masters on Sunday.

Young appeared to be out of the running heading into the weekend, with reigning champion Rory McIlroy taking the largest lead ever after two days of the tournament. But Young surged back up the leaderboard on Saturday as McIlroy stumbled, leaving them tied going into the final day of the tournament.

Young could have some big help from his family as he attempts to do the improbable.

Cameron Young Praised Kelce Dalition After March Win

After taking home the title at the Players Championship last month, Young said his wife is a driving force behind his success. He noted that wife Kelsey and their three children are forced to live on the go, traveling to watch him compete and support him.

“None of this is possible without my wife Kelsey and my family,” he told the Golf Channel. “She works incredibly hard on all of our behalf. I mean, it’s constant. They travel all the time, so she holds up that part of it at home, and does it all on my behalf, so I can go do my job and chase my dreams.”

Young and Dalition were married in March 202 and have three children together — sons Henry and John and a daughter, Vivienne. Young told Golfweek that he and Dalition went way back, sharing an initial connection through sports — though not golf.

“We’ve known her family since we lived in Garrison [N.Y.],” he told the magazine in 2021. “I played hockey for her dad and with her brother. They’re not a golf family at all so Kelsey is kind of still learning the ropes.”

Big Day Ahead for Cameron Young and His Family

The couple will likely go through plenty of stress on Sunday, when Young and McIlroy both open at 11-under 205. Though Young was near-perfect in his round on Saturday, the PGA Tour veteran said he knows that things can change quickly at Augusta.

“You just are constantly aware of the fact that this place can bite you,” Young said, via ESPN. “So to me, it’s just a really, really clear mandate that an easy par is never bad. And if you’re playing that well, you’re going to back your way into some birdies at some point.”

Young could have a bit of history on his side, with the last three winners of the Players Championship going on to win the Masters. But Young isn’t putting much stock in the trend, saying he needs to finish strong if he wants to stop McIlroy’s bid to become the first back-to-back winner since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002.

“I’m owed nothing. My past results don’t dictate what I do tomorrow,” Young said. “I’ve got to go earn whatever I get out of tomorrow, and the best way that I know to do that is kind of try to attack the day like I have the last three.”
