Charley Hull delivered an extraordinary performance this week, winning the PIF Saudi Ladies International — the Ladies European Tour’s (LET) season-opening event. As remarkable as her result was, her reaction upon learning of her victory was even more so.
What Was in Charlie Hull’s Mind?
The Englishwoman fired a final-round 65 at the Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia to finish as the clubhouse leader at 19-under, while the 54-hole leaders were still completing their closing rounds. Hull headed to the practice putting green to stay active in case of a playoff, and it was there that she learned of her victory. Her reaction has already gone viral in the golf world.
After a member of her team confirmed her win, Hull raised her arms in triumph and said, laughing,
“At least that’ll pay for my house off now,” an expression captured and broadcast live by Sky Sports.
A few weeks ago, Hull let her fans know about some renovations she was doing on her house. The work is almost finished, and this winner’s check seems to have come at the perfect time for the now five-time LET winner.
Hull elaborated on the topic during her winner’s press conference:
“My house renovation is pretty much done, so I needed that win! I’m looking forward to getting settled into my house in a couple of weeks when it’s all done and celebrate my birthday.”
Hull was also seen filming the trophy to send to her carpenter to ensure that her trophy cabinet has room for her new, enormous piece of hardware. Talk about priorities!
Notably, the $750,000 prize Hull earned for winning the PIF Ladies Saudi International ranks among the largest paychecks in women’s golf. For context, the event’s $5 million purse exceeds that of every LPGA Tour tournament except the majors and the season‑ending Tour Championship.
The Significance of a Win
It was also a significant victory for Hull for several other reasons, as she explained during her press conference.
“I worked really hard this off-season,” she said, “so it’s nice to get a result pretty much straight away, and it’s one of the bigger events on the LET. It’s the home event for me because I’m a Golf Saudi ambassador, so it’s nice to win for my sponsors.”
This is Hull’s second victory at Riyadh Golf Club; she previously won an event there in 2024, part of the then-called Aramco Team Series. Her most recent professional win before this week came at the 2025 Kroger Queen City Championship, the third LPGA Tour title of her career.
Hull is currently ranked No. 5 in the world, the highest position she has reached in her professional career. That rise is no coincidence: since August 2025, she has played eight events across the LPGA Tour and the LET, producing two victories, two runner‑up finishes, one top‑10, and three additional top‑20 results.
It’s a run of form that bodes well for the season ahead, where she will once again chase the biggest prize in the sport: a major championship. Hull remains one of only two golf superstars in the women’s game— alongside current World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul — still seeking a first major title, despite finishing runner‑up four times in those events.
