Milestones are common in golf, but few tournaments carry the weight of history quite like this year’s Genesis Invitational.

The 2026 event marked the 100th playing of the tournament and a long-awaited return to The Riviera Country Club after last year’s wildfire disruptions forced the competition to move away from its traditional home.

But as players battled for the trophy, the tournament was also focused on something bigger than the leaderboard.

Through the California Rises initiative, Genesis and its partners are channeling the spotlight of professional golf into a long-term recovery effort for communities across Southern California that were impacted by the devastating 2025 wildfires.

This year’s tournament continued that mission with $1 million committed toward rebuilding and community support efforts.

Golf as a Platform for Recovery

Genesis partnered with the PGA Tour and the TGR Foundation to create a coordinated effort aimed at helping communities rebuild – both immediately and long term – after the fires.

The program began with a significant first step: $8 million in support, including financial donations and the distribution of 100 Genesis vehicles to nonprofit organizations assisting wildfire victims and recovery operations.

For many organizations and families who lost transportation during the fires, the vehicle support became a critical resource in the months that followed.

Even when the 2025 Genesis Invitational had to be played in San Diego, the charitable component of the tournament remained active.

A program known as Birdies for Good tied player performance to donations, generating nearly $280,000 for relief efforts during that relocated event.

Turning Birdies into Support

With the tournament back in Los Angeles this year, the Birdies for Good initiative returned, once again converting great golf into real-world support.

For every birdie or eagle made on selected holes, Genesis contributed $1,000 toward recovery efforts.

The result was a strong showing from the field and an even stronger impact off the course, with $326,000 raised during the week.

One of the biggest moments came when Max Greyserman delivered a highlight-reel ace on the 14th hole during the final round. The hole-in-one triggered a $25,000 donation to the program.

While the shot energized fans around Riviera, the funds generated will ultimately go toward helping rebuild communities still recovering from the fires.

Supporting First Responders and Families

A portion of the California Rises funding will support the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, helping provide equipment, training and other resources for firefighters responding to emergencies throughout the city.

For the department, partnerships like this can make a meaningful difference.

The vehicles previously donated through Genesis have already improved mobility and logistical support for firefighters working in one of the country’s largest and most complex urban environments.

“Receiving the donated Genesis vehicles allowed us, in a dynamic city like Los Angeles, to be more proactive, allowed us more mobility, and allowed us to support the citizens in all different ways, getting to and from emergencies, non-emergencies; logistical support,” Chief William “Billy” Peralta of the Los Angeles Fire Department, said.

Beyond public safety, the initiative is also investing in rebuilding communities at the ground level.

Through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, funds will help restore homes lost during the wildfires, giving families the opportunity to return to stable housing.

Helping Young People Heal Through the Arts

California Rises also recognizes that recovery extends beyond physical rebuilding.

Schools and youth programs across the region lost classrooms, equipment and creative spaces during the fires. To help address those gaps, part of the initiative’s funding supports programs through the Genesis Inspiration Foundation.

The foundation works to expand access to arts education for students in underserved communities, and in wildfire-impacted areas the programs can provide a valuable outlet for expression and healing.

Since launching in 2018, the foundation has distributed more than $13 million to youth arts organizations across the United States, including a record $3 million awarded to 83 organizations in 2025 alone.

Through its Genesis Gives program, the company has supported organizations such as First Tee, which teaches life skills and character development through golf.

Earlier this year, Genesis contributed $100,000 to extend its partnership with First Tee, bringing its total support for the organization to $500,000 since 2022.

“Genesis is proud to continue its support of First Tee, an organization that has consistently delivered life‑changing opportunities for young people,” Brandon Ramirez, director of corporate social responsibility, Genesis Motor America, said. “This partnership is meaningful to us because it strengthens the communities we serve—helping young people build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills that create long‑term impact far beyond the golf course.”

Together, these initiatives reflect a strategy that uses golf not only as a global sporting platform but also as a way to strengthen communities.

Elevating the Fan Experience at Riviera

While the Genesis Invitational continues to grow its impact beyond the course, the tournament also delivers one of the most refined spectator experiences on the PGA Tour calendar.

At The Riviera Country Club, Genesis offers a range of premium hospitality experiences designed to bring fans closer to the action while maintaining the elevated atmosphere the tournament has become known for.

A key inspiration behind the experience is Genesis’ embrace of the Korean hospitality philosophy of “Son-nim,” a cultural principle centered on welcoming every guest with the utmost respect and care.

This year’s players and caddies lounge reflected that approach with thoughtful amenities including complimentary barber services and recovery tools designed to help competitors prepare for and recover from rounds. Courtesy vehicles were also provided to players throughout the tournament, with Genesis product specialists available to assist with personalized experiences during their stay.

Premium Hospitality Across the Course

Fans experienced that same level of hospitality through a variety of premium viewing venues spread across Riviera.

One of the most popular gathering points during tournament week was The Bluffs, an all-inclusive hospitality space located in the heart of the course. With panoramic views of the 14th hole and a climate-controlled lounge, the venue blended a lively social setting with front-row access to one of Riviera’s most compelling stretches of golf.

Just steps away, the 14th Lounge became one of the tournament’s most interactive fan destinations. Positioned beside the 14th tee, the space allowed spectators to immerse themselves in the action while enjoying a complimentary coffee bar and Korean-inspired snacks.

The lounge also featured the innovative Genesis Photo Drive, where photographers captured memorable moments from around the course and delivered them directly to fans’ phones, as well as Postcards From the Greens, an activation where guests could write and send free personalized tournament postcards from Riviera to family, friends, first responders, and even their favorite PGA pros.

The Genesis Collection was also on-site, featuring a curated retail space showcasing premium Genesis-branded golf merchandise inspired by the tournament and the brand’s design aesthetic.

Near the 14th Lounge sat The Backlot, a premium hospitality environment overlooking the 18th green. The space combined dining, entertainment and golf viewing, featuring an indoor lounge alongside an outdoor seating deck that offers sweeping views of the iconic finishing hole.

For guests seeking an even closer connection to the competition, Coastal Suites sat just behind the 14th green, providing one of the closest hospitality vantage points available on the PGA Tour. The open-air suites featured tiered seating that allowed spectators to follow play from tee to green while enjoying all-inclusive food and beverage service throughout the day.

Other premium options included Cabanas along the 18th green, offering private covered lounges and dedicated beverage service. Located above the finishing hole, Bungalows provided private tiered seating and exclusive lounge spaces just steps from the valet entrance.

Hospitality spaces also extended to the 17th hole, where Villas offered open-air lounges and tiered seating overlooking one of Riviera’s most dramatic greens.

The Inside the Ropes experience provided a rare opportunity to walk alongside players during a competition round. Participants followed a featured pairing across all 18 holes, listening as professionals discuss strategy, select clubs and read the greens – offering a behind-the-scenes perspective on elite golf.

More Than a Championship

When Jacob Bridgeman claimed the 2026 Genesis Invitational title, the tournament celebrated another memorable champion.

But the legacy of this year’s event will likely stretch well beyond the final leaderboard.

For Los Angeles communities still rebuilding after the fires, the return of the Genesis Invitational represented something deeper than a sporting milestone; it showed how a tournament can bring people together, mobilize resources and help a city move forward.
