As the Genesis Invitational returns to its longtime home at Riviera Country Club, the tournament is continuing its commitment to wildlife relief efforts in partnership with the PGA Tour and TGR Live.
Following last year’s devastating wildfires that tore through Los Angeles and forced the tournament to relocate, they founded California Rises as a charitable initiative designed to raise both awareness and critical funding for wildlife relief, recovery, and rebuilding efforts across the state.
With the tournament set to begin February 19th, Genesis reaffirmed its commitment to both golf and California Rises. In addition to extending their title sponsorship through 2030, they announced a $1 million donation to California Rises.
Genesis Invitational Continues Charitable Efforts
For the 2026 tournament, California Rises will focus on advancing fire prevention, rebuilding impacted communities, and inspiring the next generation. A key component of that mission is the return of the Birdies for Good program. Five holes will take participate. At the 10th, 14th, 16th, 17th, and 18th hole, every birdie and eagle will see a $1,000 donation take place. For every hole-in-one, a $25,000 donation will occur.
Fans can also support the cause through California Rises merchandise, including shirts, hats, keychains, pins, and stickers. While these items will be available for purchase at booths throughout the tournament, they will also be sold online. All proceeds from merchandise sales directly benefit the initiative.
Last year, more than $8 million went to California Rises thanks to combined efforts. Due to wildfire danger near Pacific Palisades, the 2025 tournament was relocated from Riviera to Torrey Pines Golf Course. Despite the relocation, the PGA Tour, Tiger Woods, and TGR Live remained committed to supporting relief efforts. Woods not only serves as host of the event, but his TGR Live Foundation receives much of its funding from the Genesis Invitational.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan reflected on the initiative, as well as Wood’s involvement:
“The game of golf has always played a role in bringing people together for a common cause, and the PGA TOUR is proud to support the efforts of the California Rises initiative at The Genesis Invitational,” said Monahan. “We commend Genesis, Tiger Woods and TGR Live for their leadership and we are grateful to Farmers Insurance®, Mayor Todd Gloria and the City of San Diego and the Century Club for their collective efforts as we relocated The Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines.”
California Rises
California Rises aims to make a difference in the area through different avenues. Thanks to this mission, the proceeds raised will benefit different organizations such as the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, and the Genesis Inspiration Foundation. The support to LAFD funds essentials such as equipment, training and safety programs. Habitat for Humanity aims to rebuild devastated areas. The Genesis Inspiration Foundation assists children affected by the wildfires through music and art programs.
As the tournament returns to Riviera, its charitable mission remains just as strong. California Rises, the PGA tour, and TGR Live will continue using the platform of professional golf to drive meaningful recovery efforts throughout Southern California.
