Justin Rose of England reacts to his winning putt on the 18th green during the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open 2026 at Torrey Pines South Course on February 01.

At 45 years old, Justin Rose didn’t just win the Farmers Insurance Open; he rewrote the record book. Rose went wire to wire at Torrey Pines, shooting rounds of 62, 65, 68, and 70 to finish at 23-under par, cruising to a seven-shot victory that never truly felt in doubt. From Thursday morning through Sunday afternoon, the tournament belonged to him.

In the process, Rose set new scoring records at 36, 54, and 72 holes, producing one of the most dominant performances the event has ever seen. Against a strong PGA Tour field and on a course historically known for punishing mistakes, Rose instead turned Torrey Pines into a showcase of control, patience, and elite ball-striking – qualities that have defined his career for more than two decades.

Early Separation and Total Control

Rose sent an immediate message in the opening round, firing a 10-under 62 that stunned the field and instantly gave him breathing room. On a course where par is often a good score, Rose attacked pins with confidence and precision, converting birdie chances while avoiding the big mistakes that derail so many rounds at Torrey Pines.

He backed it up with a 65 on Friday, extending his lead and setting a new 36-hole scoring record.

Saturday’s 68 didn’t produce fireworks on the scorecard, but it may have been Rose’s most important round of the week. Playing from ahead, he resisted the temptation to protect his lead and instead focused on smart targets and clean execution. That approach paid off, as he reached 54 holes at a record-setting pace, further distancing himself from challengers who never got closer than several shots.

Sunday itself was a final exclamation point. Rose entered the day with a six-shot lead over Joel Dahmen, who joked beforehand that his only chance to win would be if Rose overslept and missed his tee time. Rose showed up – emphatically. After opening with a steady run of pars, he ignited the round with birdies at Nos. 6 and 8, then sent a roar through Torrey Pines by rolling in a 30-plus-foot birdie putt to turn in 3 under and stretch his advantage to seven.

In the end, the leaderboard tightened but never truly threatened. Pierceson Coody, Si Woo Kim, and Ryo Hisatsune finished tied for second at 16 under, sharing runner-up honors after solid closing rounds that kept them well clear of the rest of the field. Stephan Jaeger and Jake Knapp tied for fifth at 15 under.

Meanwhile, Dahmen slipped back to a tie for seventh at 14 under alongside Sahith Theegala and Andrew Novak.

A Historic Win at 45

With the win, Rose became the oldest golfer ever to win at Torrey Pines, capturing his second Farmers Insurance Open after previously winning the event in 2019. It was also his 13th PGA Tour victory, the most by any Englishman in Tour history – four more than Nick Faldo, who now sits second on that list. Even within the broader context of PGA Tour history, the achievement stands out: Rose is the oldest wire-to-wire winner on Tour since Rocco Mediate at age 47 in 2010, and the first wire-to-wire champion at the Farmers Insurance Open since Tommy Bolt in 1955.

This wasn’t an isolated spike, either. Rose now has two wins in his last eight starts dating back to last summer’s St. Jude Championship, and he has reached the winner’s circle in three of the last four PGA Tour seasons after going winless from 2020-22. The form is real, the confidence is evident, and the results are stacking up again for a player many had quietly moved out of the elite conversation.
