After a day full of chaos and uncertainty, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil attempts to pick up the pieces. He gives some clarity that the LIV Golf season should continue as planned. In emails to LIV Staff, he admits that the season should go as scheduled and they are funded through the season.
O’Neil said, “Our season continues exactly as planned, uninterrupted and at full throttle. While the media landscape is often filled with speculation, our reality is defined by the work we do on the grass. We are heading into the heart of our 2026 schedule with the full energy of an organization that is bigger, louder, and more influential than ever before.”
However, O’Neil’s statement contradicts what he said at The Masters last week. He told people that the league has funding through 2032. Despite his words to LIV staff, it appears the damage remains.
LIV Golf Staffers Told They Would Lose Jobs

GettySeveral staffers were informed their positions would be terminated.
After the conclusion of The Masters, LIV executives confirmed to the media that they would soon lose their positions. The leagues operate as if business is normal, but staffers continue to look for “life rafts” to get out.
O’Neil said in his email to staff, “The life of a startup movement is often defined by these moments of pressure. We signed up for this because we believe in disrupting the status quo. We have faced headwinds since the jump, and we’ve answered every time with resilience and grace. Now, we must answer by doing what we do best: putting on the most compelling show in sports.”
Expect more statements that attempt to revitalize confidence that the league will continue. At some point though, people are going to want to be paid. LIV players and support staff have not received payment for weeks.
Despite the controversy, O’Neil exudes confidence in the league. He said, “Lean into this moment. The noise you hear is simply the sound of a movement that is working. Embrace it. We are pioneers, and while the road isn’t always smooth, the destination is worth every mile. Let’s go out and show the world why LIV Golf is the future of the game.”
Yet his statements also give a sense of pessimism:
“Let’s go out and show the world why LIV Golf is the future of the game. It matters. You mattered.”
Whether or not the past tense of that last statement means anything, it speaks volumes towards the state of the organization. LIV Golf is in shambles.
LIV Golf’s Rest of Season Schedule

GettyLIV Golf Mexico City apparently will continue as scheduled.
If the LIV Golf season continues to go as scheduled, they have nine events remaining including their team championship event in Michigan to conclude the season. Their remaining individual stroke play events are Mexico City (this week), Virginia, Korea, Andalucia, Louisiana, United Kingdom, New York, and Louisiana.
