Sei Young Kim ended Round 1 of the 2025 FM Championship  in a 3-way tie for first place alongside Allisen Corpuz and Jodi Ewart Shadoff.

At the conclusion of Round 2, Sei Young Kim emerged as the lone leader at TPC Boston. She finished the round 3 strokes ahead, with LPGA rookie Miranda Wang trailing behind.

Weather Delays

Ongoing weather issues like thunder and rain pushed the second round of the FM Championship into Saturday morning. Kim completed only 4 holes on Friday before returning Saturday morning to complete her second round.

In the cleaner conditions she shot an eagle and six birdies, resulting in a 7-under 65. When asked about the round on Saturday she said, “I try to (play) simple, just looking at my target and then just hit it. Just think about making the distance.”

Kim has to turn around and play again today, teeing off for Round 3 at 2:37 p.m. She planned on taking a nap to recharge after waking up at 4:30 a.m. to start her day.

Unfortunately, Wang suffered more from the disruptions, and it took her around 10 hours to complete her round before suspension of play. Miranda Wang is experiencing her first year on the LPGA Tour. With 15 career starts, she has made 11 cuts and finished in the top 10 twice. Although she has yet to win on the LPGA Tour, she is making moves in the right direction to snag her maiden victory.

Ending the day T3 was Rose Zhang. The American was also disrupted mid-round and had to pick up where she left off this morning. When discussing her T3 spot, she said,

“I felt much more comfortable out there, I think this year I’m just trying to gain a lot of positives out of a lot of difficulties. I feel like this is just helping me boost my confidence little by little.”

The 22-year-old golfer first joined the LPGA Tour in 2023 and already has two wins under her belt. Alongside her wins, she boasts 10 career top-tens, and 17 career top-25 finishes.

2025 LPGA Tour

The 2025 LPGA Tour has seen an array of talented golfers this year. At the start of the year, all eyes were on Nelly Korda. After her impressive 7 wins last year, she was expected to quickly dominate on the tour this year, but things didn’t go as planned for the once world No. 1.

This weekend at the FM Championship, Korda put up an impressive first round. Things didn’t go as well for her with the weather changes, and for her second round she ended the day at an even par. Currently, she sits 7 shots back from the lead, still chasing her first win of the year.

Otherwise, the LPGA is experiencing something unexpected. This year alone, 21 different winners have emerged on the LPGA Tour, in 20 different events. This is a first in the history of the LPGA, which has been around for 75 years.

The 2025 FM Championship is currently being played at TPC Boston. In Norton, Massachusetts, top LPGA players will battle for the $4,100,000 purse. Depending on the outcome, the LPGA could see its 22nd unique winner of the 2025 season.
