Golf legend Tiger Woods is making headlines for all of the wrong reasons after he was involved in a rollover car accident with another vehicle near his home in Jupiter, Florida on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Following the accident, Woods was arrested by Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies and booked into the county jail on DUI charges. Now he has been seen leaving the jail for the first time since yesterday’s accident. Here’s everything to know about the situation and current updates as they unfold.

Following his involvement in the rollover two-vehicle car accident on Friday, March 27, 2026, Tiger Woods was arrested at the scene by Sheriff’s Deputies and booked into the Martin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. A few hours later, he was released on bail after refusing to submit to a urine test during the booking process. In response to the reasoning behind the arrest, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek informed media outlets that Woods showed signs that he “might be impared” and that he appeared to be overly lethargic and not at full cognitive capacities when law enforcement officers arrived at the scene of the car accident involving the golfer’s Range Rover.

Budensiek elaborated on the condition in which Tiger Woods appeared to be in when Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies interacted with him at the scene of the crash, saying, “The driver of [the other] vehicle looked in his mirror and saw a [Range] Rover overtaking him at high speeds. He saw it coming, so he tried to edge off the side of the road, but this is a small two-lane road, and there was no shoulder.”

According to Golf.com, Woods was driven home from the Martin County Jail by a friend in a black SUV approximately eight hours after his initial arrest following yesterday’s car accident.

This isn’t the Professional Golfer’s First DUI Arrest

The DUI charge Tiger Woods is facing now is not his first encounter with being arrested in Jupiter, nor his first arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drug-related substances. On May 29, 2017, the golfer was involved in his first arrest for a DUI charge when law enforcement found him sleeping inside of his car at the wheel. Though the car was not moving at the time, he was booked into the county jail by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department, and toxicology tests later turned up several prescription substances in Woods’ system including opioid pain medication, benzodiazepines, and muscle relaxants.
