Rory McIlroy and his wife, Erica Stoll, may have been absent from the PGA Tour in recent week, but the couple have been busy. McIlroy revealed some surprising news following his win at the Masters.
As McIlroy prepared to return to the PGA Tour at the Truist Championship, the star discussed the decision for he and his wife to make a guest appearance in the new movie, “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” During an appearance on “New Heights,” the popular podcast of Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce, McIlory revealed that it was Stoll who pushed the golfer to appear in the movie.
“So, ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ thing was so random,” McIlroy said in the May 6, interview. “I won The Players Championship last year and they asked me afterwards, like, what did you do last night to prepare? I said, well, I had dinner and I got back to the room and I watched ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’
“… And not knowing that the director David Frankel somehow got wind of it. And his son is actually a really, really good player trying to make it as a pro at the minute, playing college golf at, I think it’s Stanford,” McIlroy continued.
“So, the team reached out and said, ‘Look, Dave was wondering if you would want to do some sort of cameo?’ And I said to my wife, Erica, I’m like, yeah, what do you think? And she’s like, yeah, absolutely.”

So, McIlroy agreed to be in the movie, but the golfer added one condition. McIlroy pushed for his wife to be in the film as well.
“And then I text back and said, do you think Erica could be in it, too?” McIlroy explained. “And they’re like, sure. Bring her along.
“…We spent the day in New York and did it. And it was an unbelievable experience.”

McIlroy skipped three PGA tournaments following his Masters win before competing at the Truist Championship. In addition to seeing himself in the movie, McIlroy revealed that he took a trip to New York with his wife.
“Maybe not quite as hectic as last year,” McIlroy told reporters on May 6. “I think this win felt a little bit different than the first win at Augusta. It’s been really nice to spend time at home. I’ve done a couple of things, but… I didn’t do the media trip up to New York (to do media appearances).
“It was nice, my parents were in the States, so I didn’t have to fly home and see them. It was nice to just get a little bit of down time and chill. Did some fun stuff. Erica and I took a trip to New York, which was nice. Then did the State Dinner at the White House last Tuesday night, which was an amazing evening.”
