The Duke Blue Devils are looking forward to their 2026-27 season after a heartbreaking loss to UConn in the Elite 8 this past year. On Thursday, they made a historic announcement that will help them bounce back from their defeat to the Huskies.
Duke Will Have Three Games On Amazon Next Season
Duke has announced a partnership with Amazon Prime to feature three games this season. The Blue Devils will take on UConn in Las Vegas on Nov. 25, Michigan at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 21 and Gonzaga in Detroit on Feb. 20.
The Blue Devils have become the first college team to partner with a streaming service to broadcast several of their games. While leagues like the Big Ten have agreements for teams to have their games featured on Peacock, this arrangement is more of a league-wide initiative rather than something tied to an individual team.
Duke’s players will also have the opportunity to explore NIL options with the new deal with Amazon.
“In addition to our outstanding partnership with ESPN, we are excited to work with Prime Video on this groundbreaking initiative,” Duke athletic director Nina King said, via ESPN’s Jeff Borzello and Pete Thamel. “As Prime Video’s first college sports partner, this collaboration not only expands the global reach of Duke Men’s Basketball, but also creates meaningful opportunities for our student-athletes in a way that reflects innovation and excellence.”
With Duke rising to prominence as the top brand in college basketball in recent years, it makes sense that it would be the first school to strike a deal with a streaming service.
Streaming games has become the latest trend in college athletics and professional sports, and Duke is likely at the forefront of this movement that other college teams will adopt in the coming years.
Cameron Boozer is Heading to The NBA After One Season at Duke
One player who won’t be participating in this deal on Amazon for Duke is former star freshman forward Cameron Boozer. Boozer was one of the best players in college basketball this past season, and now he will be taking his talents to the next level.
The deadline to enter the 2026 NBA Draft was on Friday, and Boozer declared for the draft just hours before the window closed.
Many NBA draft experts believe that a team will likely select Boozer within the top 5 picks, and possibly even within the top 3. This suggests it was a smart decision for Boozer to leave the Blue Devils.
Boozer averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this past season, earning honors like the Naismith Trophy, the Wooden Award and the AP Player of the Year.
Any team that is lucky enough to add Boozer is set to gain a solid player who can step in from Day 1 and help the team start winning right away.
The NBA Draft lottery is scheduled for May 10, and that could be the day Boozer finds out which two or three teams are likely to pick him once the draft order is officially established.
