The Arizona Diamondbacks had an interesting offseason. From trade rumors involving Ketel Marte to acquiring one of the best third basemen of the last generation, the Diamondbacks are doing all they can to get back into the postseason.

Kyle Odegard of RG.org sat down with former Arizona reliever Archie Bradley to talk about Diamondbacks baseball.

They discussed a variety of topics, including Marte, Nolan Arenado and the Diamondbacks’ postseason odds.

Bradley on Marte’s Trade Rumors With the Arizona Diamondbacks

Marte had a tumultuous season, leading to the aforementioned trade rumors. This stemmed from  Marte taking too many days off during the season. While the manner in which both sides approached this issue may have been wrong, Bradley assures fans the drama is over.

“Bradley said any bad blood between the sides has dissipated, and he expects ‘an even better Ketel this year’ on and off the field,” Odegard wrote.

While Marte proved to the baseball world that he is still one of, if not the best, second basemen in the game, his leadership could always improve.

Marte struggled with injuries during the 2025 season, limiting him to just 126 games. However, during that span, he hit 28 home runs with an .893 OPS. This was the third consecutive season in which Marte hit 25+ home runs with an .840+ OPS.

If Marte has an even better showing on and off the field in 2026, this could be a dangerous team.

Bradley on Third Base Acquisition

The Diamondbacks made a big splash this offseason, acquiring Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals for pennies on the dollar.

While the eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove award winner’s production took a hit in 2025, Bradley and Odegard are still optimistic about the impact Arenado can have.

Bradley detailed how hard of an out Arenado still can be:

“He doesn’t give up at-bats,” Bradley said to Odegard. “As great as his power numbers are, when he gets down in the count, he will throw the bat in any direction to poke a ball. And when you do make a mistake, he does damage.”

In Arenado’s first injury-riddled season since 2014, he hit just 12 home runs in 107 games, with a .666 OPS. Having career-lows across the board, Diamondbacks fans are hoping Arenado can regain the mojo that has placed him as one of the best third basemen in the last 15 years.

Bradley on Arizona’s Playoff Hopes

The Diamondbacks have not made the postseason since their miracle run to the World Series in 2023. Before that, the last time they had made the playoffs was in 2017. Bradley was a key part of that team.

While the Los Angeles Dodgers are heavily favored to win not only the NL West division but also the World Series, Bradley doesn’t see why Arizona can’t play spoiler and still make the Wild Card.

“He points to the star trio of Marte, outfielder Corbin Carroll, and shortstop Geraldo Perdomo as difference-makers who will lead the way,” Odegard wrote.

Bradley details that the Diamondbacks will need help, but that anything can happen in this game, referencing how close the Toronto Blue Jays were to etching their name in history instead of Los Angeles.

If the Diamondbacks can add between now and the trade deadline, they have a good shot to make the postseason with their solid young nucleus, but are they good enough to dethrone the Dodgers? It’s still probably wishful thinking.
