With the rumors swirling around Freddy Peralta and his trade status, reports Monday indicated that the Atlanta Braves are now interested in the two-time All-Star starter, which begs the question of what it would take the Braves to land the Brewers’ ace.
The Atlanta Braves have had an active offseason, but everyone surrounding the team understands that the Braves need to add an impact starter before the end of the offseason. Whether it be a value-add or huge splash like Freddy Peralta, Atlanta dealt with far too many injuries last season in the pitching staff to feel safe headed into 2026. While the Braves don’t necessarily need a frontline starter, what package would it take to land the touted Peralta?

What Is A Potential Trade Package for Freddy Peralta?
The Milwaukee Brewers have remained firm that the sell price for Peralta is very high, but there’s still a world where the Braves get a deal done.
The one issue is that the report that was released Monday indicated that the other teams interested in the Brewers’ two-time All-Star are the Dodgers, Mets, Yankees, and Red Sox, which means they would have to essentially outbid those other contenders in order to land Freddy.
However, a recent article by FanSided’s HTHB writer Steven Teal proposes this prospect package that could potentially land the Braves Freddy Peralta:
- Braves receive: Freddy Peralta
- Brewers receive: LHP Cam Caminiti, OF Conor Essengurg, RHP Drue Hackenberg

GettyFreddy Peralta pitches against the Chicago Cubs during the first inning in game one of the Division Series at American Family Field on October 04, 2025.
In any world where a deal gets done, it would have to include top prospects going to Milwaukee, so it’s fair to assume either Caminiti, Hurston Waldrep, or JR Ritchie would be mocked in any trade package.
Freddy Peralta is coming off his best season in MLB, posting a career-low 2.70 ERA over 176.2 innings and striking out 204 batters. He’s struck out 200+ batters and made 30+ starts in three straight seasons.

Freddy Peralta’s Contract is a Huge Factor in His Trade Value
A huge factor in this trade idea is Freddy Peralta’s contract. The team option on his contract is more $8 million, and he’s set to hit free agency next offseason.
Considering that, if you’re the Braves’ front office, you have to consider the price on his value for just one season, and would you potentially be able to extend him after the season?
For the Braves, it might be smarter to target a low-cost starter option that might cost them $8-13 million/year, but not valuable prospects for their future.
It’s good news for the Braves that they are being linked to such high-profile names on the market, but options like Zack Littell, Patrick Corbin, or Lucas Giolito could also be a good fit for the Braves’ rotation, which doesn’t really need an ace with Chris Sale and Spencer Schwellenbach being the top options.
It will still be interesting to see how linked the Braves continue to be to Peralta and others, and who else they potentially sign during MLB’s hot stove season.
