Braves Floated As Trade Destination for Yankees Bust to Replace Jurickson Profar

This is quite an interesting trade proposal. But it’s actually one where both sides could potentially benefit. With the Atlanta Braves receiving the tough news that Jurickson Profar will miss the entire 2026 season due to a PED ban, that forces the Braves to actually search for a replacement option as either a fourth outfielder or primary DH.

Fansided’s Zachary Rotman recently floated a trade pitch that would have the Braved acquiring New York Yankees young outfielder Jasson Dominguez in a three-player trade. The Jasson Dominguez experiment might be over in New York, and it could be a nice reset for Dominguez to join Atlanta.

Braves Predicted to Land Yankees’ Jasson Dominguez

In this recent mock trade idea by Fansided, the Braves acquire Jasson Dominguez from the New York Yankees in exchange for southpaw Dylan Lee and right-handed pitcher Didier Fuentes:

“Profar was supposed to begin the year as Atlanta’s DH and then play left field on most days once Sean Murphy returns from the IL. Dominguez might not be as good a player as Profar has been the last couple of years (likely thanks to the PEDs), but he’s got immense upside and could fill that Profar role to a tee. He makes a lot of sense as a player the Braves would target, and he’d come with several years of cheap club control.”

Dominguez hit .257 with 10 home runs, 47 RBI, and 98 hits in 2025. As such a young player, there’s still so much time for him to further develop into a stronger hitter.

With just 468 career at-bats, he has 16 total home runs, and an OPS+ right at league average. While he was a top prospect, hitting in MLB is extremely difficult, and it’s thought you should wait until a player’s first 1,000 ABs before making a true judgment.

Would the Braves Consider Making This Deal?

This would be a really tricky decision for the Atlanta Braves to make. Giving up Dylan Lee, who was pretty much the team’s best southpaw reliever last season, for Jasson Dominguez is a tough crossroads to be at.

On one hand, picking up such a once-touted prospect in Dominguez, and giving him everyday at-bats might be extremely worth it and beneficial. But Dylan Lee, being a high-leverage reliever, also carries a lot of value.

Lee had been one of the most effective relievers in MLB for most of 2025, and ended up finishing the season with a 3.29 ERA over 68.1 innings. His earned run average mark was 2.11 in 2024.

And do the Yankees even want to offload Jasson Dominguez at this juncture? There doesn’t seem to be any room for him on their current roster, but lots can change when real MLB games get played.
