The Braves are coming off a 13-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians (also at home).

Matt Olson finished the massive win with two hits, one RBI and two runs in five at-bats.

During Monday’s showdown, Olson made major MLB history by playing in his 799th straight game.

Sarah Langs of MLB.com wrote: “Matt Olson is playing his 799th consecutive game today, dating to 5/2/21, the 11th-longest streak in MLB history

Olson came into the night batting .290 with four home runs, 11 RBI’s and 13 runs in his first 16 games of the 2026 season.

Olson’s Career With The Braves

The 32-year-old has been a huge contributor for the Braves since joining the franchise in 2022.

After losing superstar Freddie Freeman to the Los Angeles Dodgers, they made a quick move to replace him with Olson.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan wrote (on March 15, 2022): “Not only does Atlanta have a new 1B in Matt Olson, it’s going to have him for a long, long time. Olson and the Braves have agreed on an eight-year, $168 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. Atlanta locks up the hometown kid two years before he was due to hit the market.”

Over his time in Atlanta, Olson is batting .261 with 150 home runs, 446 RBI’s and 402 runs in 664 games.

He has helped lead the franchise to the MLB playoffs three times.

Before the Braves, the three-time MLB All-Star spent six years with the Athletics.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com wrote (on April 12): “Three days before the start of what now stands as the 11th longest consecutive games streak in MLB history, Matt Olson suffered an injury that threatened sight in his left eye. The pictures he provided for this story show why there was initial concern”

Braves Right Now

The Braves are coming off a year where they surprisingly missed the 2025 MLB playoffs.

That said, they still have one of the best rosters in the entire National League.

Right now, the Braves are 10-6 in 16 games, which has them at the top of their division.
