Would Los Angeles Dodgers starter Bobby Miller and Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas benefit from a change of scenery? Bleacher Report seems to think so, as both Miller and Casas were among seven trade candidates named by BR’s Joel Reuter. Neither really has much of a place on their respective rosters, which isn’t that much of a slight to either player, as Los Angeles and Boston both have strong top-to-bottom groups in MLB.
However, one true thing is that both Bobby Miller and Triston Casas have had rocky tenures with their current clubs. Would a player-swap trade between the Dodgers and Red Sox actually be beneficial to both players?

Both Bobby Miller and Triston Casas Have Flashed Promise
Both Bobby Miller and Triston Casas were top prospects in their organization, and both are homegrown players who haven’t been traded or been a part of any other MLB teams. Another similarity is that their 2023 campaigns were strong.
Triston Casas looked like the future of the first base position for Boston in 2023 after he hit 24 home runs in 132 games. He has 45 career home runs over 251 total games and a career 118 OPS+ in 816 ABs,which is strong enough to earn some at-bats if it weren’t for his injury history. Casas was limited to just 63 games in 2024, and then blew out his knee after a rough start in 2025, which is the ultimate reason for the trade speculation.
As for Bobby Miller, his case is a little more fixated on poor production and his inability to find his old, powerful stuff. In 2023, Miller posted a 3.76 ERA over 124.1 innings and 22 starts in his first MLB season.
However, in 13 starts in 2024, Miller’s earned run average inflated to 8.52 over 50+ innings, which led to his demotion. He pitched five innings with the Dodgers in 2025, but likely won’t see any innings going forward unless the Dodgers become desperate for arms.

Who Says No to This Mock Trade Idea?
Not saying the Red Sox are desperate for pitching, but a change of scenery for both players might be beneficial in the long run, and both are under team control for several years, so a small trade like this wouldn’t affect the financials of either team.
So, who would say no to this mock trade? Likely the Red Sox, who are expecting a healthy return for Triston Casas, and if he shows he can still hit the ball for power, Boston will find a spot in the lineup for him.
