The Los Angeles Dodgers are once again set to exit the MLB offseason as one of the biggest winners in baseball.
In what has become a common occurrence, the Dodgers were able to sign the best free agent available on the market. Los Angeles made a strong move to sign superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker on a massive four-year, $240 million contract.
That has become a trend across in baseball. In fact, there are many who believe that the Dodgers consistently signing top-tier talent will make other teams push for Major League Baseball to implement a salary cap.
Despite the unhappiness from the rest of the league, Los Angeles has continued pushing to improve. That has led to back-to-back World Series championships and a chance to three-peat as champions this season.
Since the Tucker signing, there have been rumors swirling around about the Dodgers potentially acquiring star pitcher Freddy Peralta from the Milwaukee Brewers.
While the rumors have been out there, Los Angeles president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman spoke out with a very clear message about the team’s plans.
“We are not,” Friedman said when asked if the Dodgers are still looking for starting pitchers.
Freddy Peralta’s Market Has Been Very Active
Even though the Dodgers are no longer in the market to acquire Peralta, there are plenty of other teams who would love to pry him away from the Brewers.
Among the teams who are interested in Peralta are the Atlanta Brave, New York Yankees, New York Mets, and San Francisco Giants. There could be other teams who come forward with interest in trading for him as well.
Peralta has become one of the best starting pitchers in baseball. Last season in 33 starts, the 29-year-old starter compiled a 17-6 record to go along with a 2.70 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, a 3.1 K/BB ratio, and 176.2 innings pitched.
Los Angeles may not be interested in trading for Peralta, but that hasn’t impacted his market much at all.
Are the Los Angeles Dodgers Done This Offseason?
Brandon Gomes, the general manager of the Dodgers, was asked if the team is done making moves this offseason. He hinted that the big moves may be over, but that Los Angeles never stops being open to making a move if one presents itself.
“We’re close to done,” Gomes said. “We can never be done, won’t say anything official but we feel very good about this team with Spring Training a few weeks away.”
At the end of the day, no team should stop looking for ways to improve. The Dodgers don’t have any major needs, but there are always opportunities to add depth.
Los Angeles looks to be the clear-cut World Series favorite heading into the 2026 season. Another offseason has come and another big win has come along with it for the Dodgers. Being able to head into this year with Tucker onboard was a win.
Expect to continue hearing rumors, but it sounds like Los Angeles has pretty much finalized its roster unless another opportunity comes up.
