The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to take on the New York Mets in a three-game weekday series in Dodger Stadium.

On Monday, per the Dodgers social media account, “the Dodgers recalled RHP Kyle Hurt and placed RHP Ben Casparius on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation.”

Dodgers Recall Kyle Hurt, Send Ben Casparius to Injured List

Ben Casparius has made five appearances for the Los Angeles Dodgers this season, but things haven’t started smoothly for the 27-year-old righty. Over 4.2 innings pitched this season, Casparius has a 9.00+ ERA after giving up six earned runs and striking out just four batters. It seems like an Injured List stint should benefit Casparius in the long run.

After coming on strong in the 2024 MLB playoffs, Casparius earned himself a role in the Dodgers’ bullpen for the 2025 season. In 2025, Casparius posted a 4.64 ERA over 77.2 innings.

He holds a career 4.67 ERA over 90.2 total innings and 87 strikeouts.

The Dodgers drafted Ben Casparius in the fifth round of the 2021 MLB draft.

Kyle Hurt’s MLB Career

Kyle Hurt is a 27-year-old right-handed pitcher out of California. He has not pitched in MLB since 2024, where he only recorded 6.2 innings pitched.

In spring training this season, Hurt posted a 3.68 ERA over 7.1 innings.

It’s unlikely that he’ll see any meaningful innings with the Dodgers, as he’s a strong candidate for being a part of another roster move made later this week; however, you never know, as I’m sure he’d like to see some big league pitching action. In 2024, Hurt gave up just one run in those 6.2 innings pitched.

As for the Dodgers-Mets series, one little tidbit of information: once the first pitch is thrown, it will officially be the most expensive series in MLB history! No surprise there after you dissect the series, considering both Los Angeles (Dodgers) and New York (Mets) have the highest and second-highest payrolls in MLB.
