The Los Angeles Dodgers and two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani will enter the 2026 MLB season looking to become the first team to three-peat as World Series champions since the New York Yankees in 1998, 1999, and 2000.

Once again this offseason, the Dodgers were one of the big winners of the offseason. They were able to sign superstar free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker.

With Tucker now onboard and Ohtani entering the season fully healthy, things are looking good for Los Angeles.

Ohtani has already marked his name as one of the best talents of all-time in Major League Baseball. There are few players who have ever been able to accomplish what he has been able to do to begin his MLB career. He’s hoping to take that to another level in 2026.

Keeping that in mind, Ohtani has spoken out and revealed his biggest goal for the upcoming campaign without hesitation.

Shohei Ohtani Reveals Biggest Goal With Dodgers in 2026

Throughout his career, Ohtani has dealt with some disappointing injury setbacks. His biggest goal this season is to remain fully healthy all year long.

Ohtani also suggested that the Cy Young would be a nice reward for staying healthy.

“If at the end, the result is getting a Cy Young, that’s great,” Ohtani said. “Getting a Cy Young means being able to throw more innings and being able to pitch throughout the whole season, so if that’s the end result, that’s a good sign for me. What I’m more focused on is just being healthy the whole year.”

If Ohtani is able to accomplish that goal, the Dodgers will without question be favored to win a third straight World Series. There is no denying that they are the most talented team on paper. In fact, they have caused the rest of baseball to begin pushing for a salary cap.

Hopefully, the goal is met and Ohtani can put together a full season. When fully healthy, he’s capable of being one of the best hitters in baseball and one of the best pitchers as well.

A Look at Shohei Ohtani’s MLB Career Thus Far

So far, Ohtani has played in eight MLB seasons. He has not disappointed in any of them.

Last season with the Dodgers, Ohtani played in 158 games. He hit 55 home runs to go along with 102 RBI, 20 stolen bases, and a slash line of .282/.392/.622. Ohtani also made 14 starts as a pitcher, compiling a 1-1 record to go along with a 2.87 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, a 6.9 K/BB ratio, and 47 innings pitched.

As for his entire career, Ohtani has racked up 280 home runs, 669 RBI, 165 stolen bases, and a slash line of .282/.374/.582. His pitching career has seen him make 100 starts, going 39-20 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 3.7 K/BB ratio, and 528.2 innings of work completed.

Only time will tell what the 2026 season has in store for Ohtani. However, if he’s able to stay healthy, it could very well be his best yet.
