There’s already enough outcry from MLB fans that the Los Angeles Dodgers are ruining baseball. At this point, the damage has pretty much already been done, so why not go for the knockout punch? A recent trade pitch curated by FanSided.com features a wild hypothetical package between the Dodgers and Minnesota Twins that would send All-Stars Joe Ryan and Byron Buxton to Los Angeles in exchange for SEVEN total players, six of which have big-league experience.
The Dodgers are the most aggressive team in baseball, and are always at the forefront of every trade rumor, so it’s no surprise that Los Angeles pops up as a destination for Joe Ryan and Byron Buxton, who have a new wave of trade speculation surrounding them after Pablo Lopez’s season-ending injury.

The Details of This Trade Idea Are…. Interesting
Stay with me now, here is the full trade package that FanSided’s Zachary Rotman proposes, which actually is a little more fair than one would initially think:
“Los Angeles Dodgers receive: OF Byron Buxton, P Joe Ryan
Minnesota Twins receive: OFs Andy Pages, Josue De Paula, RHPs Emmet Sheehan, River Ryan, Gavin Stone, C Dalton Rushing, INF Alex Freeland.”
So, try to digest that, and then decide who says no to this potential deal.

First off, this is A LOT for the Dodgers to give up for Ryan and Buxton. Buxton is 32 and has dealt with a handful of injuries throughout his career, so to sell half the farm for Buxton and Joe Ryan, who could just leave via free agency in a couple of years, doesn’t make all that much sense.
However, pulling off this deal might guarantee the Dodgers win a third-straight World Series.

Will the Twins Continue to Sell?
After the Twins went full on firesale mode last July, they are now the organization everyone speculates will move on from their tradeable assets, which are Joe Ryan and Byron Buxton at the moment.
Joe Ryan emerged as one of the better starters in MLB this season, and Buxton has put together two straight seasons of playing more than 100 games for the first time in his career.
If anything, this trade idea is a massive overpay for Los Angeles in terms of value given up, but yes, they *at least* get better on paper.
Andy Pages and Emmet Sheehan enjoyed breakout seasons in 2025, and Freeland/Rushing both got a taste of MLB. Gavin Stone missed the entire 2025 season, but had a pretty strong 2024 season when he was called up. And as for Josue De Paula, he is the Dodgers’ top prospect.
It’s a hypothetical season around MLB until Opening Day, so let the speculation commence, but this is one of the crazier trade packages that could be put together.
Maybe LA is more likely to just trade for Joe Ryan straight up for Dalton Rushing and Andy Pages, but the outfield is already decided for the Dodgers as their three-peat quest is about to get underway.
