The Milwaukee Brewers have one of the best young players in the Major Leagues in infielder Brice Turang. The 26-year-old made his MLB debut in 2023, and he became a staple in the Brew Crew’s lineup in 2024.
That season and beyond, Turang solidified himself as a special talent and a building block for this franchise. While it would only make sense for the Brewers to try to lock him up long-term, Turang is still under team control until 2029.
Nevertheless, Milwaukee has discussed an extension with Turang in the past, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. And by the sounds of it, Turang is definitely open to the possibility of spending many years to come in Wisconsin.
“I think every player is interested in it, if it’s the right number, if it’s the best thing for them and their family,” Turang said, via Curt Hogg. “I mean, you’re always open ears as a player.”
Brice Turang is Worth Every Penny for The Milwaukee Brewers

There’s been a major uptick in young players signing mega deals already this season. But most of these players — like Konnor Griffin, Kevin McNonigle, and Colt Emerson– have barely had a sniff in the show.
However, the Brewers also followed suit, handing Cooper Pratt an eight-year deal worth $50.75 million. He hasn’t even made his debut yet. Turang is obviously several years into his MLB career, but he’s proving that he’s worth a big deal sooner rather than later. He’s evolving into a superstar with each passing week, and the statistics definitely back it up.
Consistently Improving

Turang hit .218 in his debut season, and improved to a .254 average in ’24. 2025 was his real coming-out party, batting .288 with a career-best 18 home runs while also swiping 24 bags. He’s a serious threat on the basepaths, and Turang can also swing it for power.
Defensively, he had a .985 fielding percentage last season, playing mostly second base. He’s quick, athletic, and has a strong arm. Turang has only made one error so far this season, and he’s hitting .300 at the dish.
While Pratt may be the future at shortstop, Turang is the future at second base and is already showing he can be an All-Star-caliber player. He’s a Gold Glover who can also spray the baseball all over the diamond.
Sure, there are still several years until he potentially hits free agency, but his value is only going to increase. If the Brewers want to save themselves some money and also solidify his future, it would be wise to extend him now, instead of waiting.
Turang has already shown he’s an invaluable player on this roster.
