The New York Yankees opened up their 2026 MLB season with a dominant 7-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, superstar outfielder Aaron Judge went 0-for-5 in the win.

Judge going hitless in the season opener marks the first time in his career of doing so.

Entering the 2026 campaign, Judge and the Yankees are facing a lot of pressure. After a quiet offseason, the team took a gamble on basically running it back with last year’s roster. They’re going to lean heavily on their stars to carry and for players to develop or get healthy.

With that being said, Judge has been hit with an ominous warning about the future of his MLB career and his legacy.

New York Yankees Star Aaron Judge Slapped With Harsh Warning

During an appearance on “First Things First” on Monday, March 25, Chris Broussard spoke out honestly about Judge. He warned that not winning a World Series could do major harm to the star outfielder’s legacy.

“All of their all-time greats won at least one World Series,” Broussard said. “Judge is HISTORICALLY great… but if he doesn’t win a ring in New York, I think it’s just going to be a stain.”

That’s a difficult blanket statement to get behind. Not all greats have won a championship. Some of the best professional sports players of all-time haven’t won a ring.

Despite that fact, Judge is facing pressure to lead New York to another World Series. He has struggled at times in postseason play, especially when compared to his production in the regular season.

Examining Aaron Judge’s Regular & Postseason Statistics

Throughout his MLB career, Judge has played in 1,146 regular season games. He has hit 368 home runs to go along with 830 RBI, while also slashing .293/.412/.615.

Needless to say, those are numbers that most players can only dream of accomplishing.

However, in the postseason, his production has fallen off of a cliff. Judge has played in 65 career playoff games, hitting 17 home runs to go along with 41 RBI and a slash line of .236/.346/.476.

Simply put, the 33-year-old superstar has been unable to perform at the same level on the biggest stage. No one can put the Yankees not winning a World Series squarely on his shoulders, but he hasn’t been a part of powering the team to a championship either.

Judge will have a chance again to flip the script in 2026. Even winning one World Series would get the postseason criticism off of his chest. Hopefully, he can reach that goal this season.
