The New York Yankees are flying high after taking out their brooms for the Baltimore Orioles. Now, the recently released Eli Morgan is making headlines as the Yankees look toward their next series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Yankees are still second in the AL East, 4.0 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays. They are 6-4 in their last 10 contests.

Prior to their first game against the Blue Jays, the Yankees have reportedly signed a new player.
According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Yankees and Morgan have agreed on a new deal.
“Eli Morgan to Yankees. MILB deal,” Heyman wrote early on August 21st, 2026.
Morgan is a 30-year-old pitcher. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound hurler was originally a Cleveland Guardians 2017 draft selection.

Morgan was drafted in the eighth round in 2017. He has pitched 16 games in 2026, registering 16 strikeouts, one save, a 5.12 ERA, and a 1.71 WHIP as a reliever.
Since being drafted, Morgan has played MLB games for the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals.
He was traded from the Guardians to the Cubs in exchange for Alfonsin Rosario in November, 2024. Nearly one year later, he would elect free agency and leave the Cubs before signing a new deal with the Royals in January 2026.
Morgan has played 184 games in his MLB career. In those games, he has recorded 282 strikeouts, 21 holds, and two saves in 292 innings.

The Yankees lost their last series against the Blue Jays.
Considering the history between these organizations, they will look to get even.
The last series between these two squads featured a historic milestone for Aaron Boone — his 50th career ejection.
However, the Yankees can put the Blue Jays’ playoff hopes on hold with a series win. If they could continue their sweeping ways against Toronto, that would be even better.
Any victory against a divisional opponent has a significant impact. Stealing games away from teams chasing them in the standings is only a good thing for the Yankees.
Game 1 of this new series will be broadcast on Friday night at 7:05 PM Eastern Time, 5:05 PM Mountain Time. Fans can tune in to the game on YES and Sportsnet.
